About this item

Description

The Flamingos were one of the most polished groups of the 1950s doo-wop boom. Their career, like so many other collectives at the time, was challenged by numerous line-up changes, contractual issues and hopping between labels to find commercial successes. Despite not having the commercial recognition they deserved, The Flamingos left behind an enduring body of work with some of the finest and most unique close harmony tracks of the 50s. With the addition of a high soprano soaring over the tenors, and their polished performances including cleverly choreographed dance routines, they are certainly one of the most influential groups of their genre. This collection not only features all their chart hits but also their most loved and influential recordings spanning the first decade of their career including the timeless classics Golden Teardrops, I Only Have Eyes For You and Mio Amore.
