Description

A perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility.

REPORT ISSUED BY DALLAS, ARTHUR: An Alien is stalking us on board the Nostromo, and Executive Officer Kane is dead. The remaining crew and I are working together to patch the ship and do what we can to survive. I don’t know if we’ll make it. The Alien is big, fast, and deadly, and could be waiting just beyond the next hatch…
Take on the role of the Nostromo’s crew and work together to move through the ship, gather supplies, and craft items to complete objectives. To win, complete your objectives and one of five final missions before your morale runs out. And remember—in space, no one can hear you scream.

PLAYING ALIEN: FATE OF THE NOSTROMO
On your turn, you’ll take the number of actions indicated on your crew placard. You can either move around the Nostromo or pick up, craft, use, or trade items with other crew members. Each crew member also has a special ability. Items are extremely helpful in navigating the Nostromo while fending off the Alien and maintaining morale. Watch out for conceal tokens—you might encounter an empty room, Jonesy the cat, or the Alien!

After you take your actions, you’ll draw an Encounter card! The card will tell you where coolant canisters and scrap (used to make items) appear within the ship. Depending on the card, the Alien might also go on the hunt, moving as quickly as it can towards the nearest crew member…

Complete your objective cards (such as crafting items and moving them to a specific room in the ship), then reveal your final mission. To win, complete your final mission before morale runs out or the ship self-destructs!

What I liked about this game is how easy it was to understand the rules, my daughter and I have played it for two nights and she actually enjoys it even though she’s not into games, something about having to go into unexplored rooms gets her excited and nervous. You have 5 characters to choose from and each have their own abilities. The game to me honestly feel well balanced when it comes to winning and losing. I also own Jaws and Horrified and I got to say Alien has by far the better coop experience.

A great game for anyone who likes the alien theme. Similar mechanics to the board game “horrified” but different enough that their is room in your collection for both.

1979, you heard my scream

Great cooperative game that's family friendly even if the theme is based on an R rated movie. Nice components, especially the miniatures that resemble their movie counterparts- and then there's the Big Chap, looking scary as ever. The artwork on the cards and movie references are spot on. The game plays out in about 35-50 minutes, with minimal set-up. There's a couple of rulebook checking moments each game but otherwise easy to understand. The game's difficulty does ramp up quickly with more players but it's fun even when you lose. The game somehow captures that unnerving feeling of having to get things done to survive despite a lurking creature that can attack you at any moment. Very good "boogey man" moments where you find your character running in panic away from your objective. Lots of fun with this one. If you're a fan of the movie, you'll love it that much more. This is the game I wish I had in 1979.

Great co-op game in the Alien universe

5 out of 5 stars
SolidSteve - 1 year ago, Verified purchaser
If you are a fan of lighter co-op board games and/or the Alien movie franchise, this is a must buy. The game is easy to setup and learn, and gives you enough content through the randomized objectives and final missions to play many times over. The art is exceptional, with high attention to detail and care for the characters and universe. There are also many variants and a harder rule set on board game geek if you want to make the game even tougher!
