This is a great bug house to try out. I removed the wire on the top section and added some pinecones, moss and twigs. I only took off one star because you can’t remove all the components to sanitize.
Looking forward to the weather warming up to install on my tree in the backyard! I've seen similar wooden insect houses and this Smith & Hawken one is much nicer! It's 11.6” height is bigger than others I have seen on the market. It is also twice as deep as others I have seen, as well! The construction is very sturdy, so I am hoping it will last for a long while! It does seem to be very well made.
This insect house is heavier than I expected it to be. It has so many different nooks and crannies for bees and bugs. I am excited to hang it up in my garden this spring. It feels very durable and sturdy while also looking great!
This is the perfect little bee hut. The Wood Insect House by Smith & Hawken™ is exactly the type of bee habitat that bees need to rest. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to provide a bee sanctuary. It is exactly as pictured and has a metal toothy hanger on the rear to hang it off of something.

Honestly, we have no idea what purpose an insect house serves.
Well-made insect house. The wood has been sanded so it doesn’t have rough edges, and it’s fairly solid. There are a few dark blemishes on the roof, but that to be expected on a natural product. There is a small metal strip on the back that can be used to hang it against a wall or something. But I’m not sure where to hang it, as we don’t want biting or stinging insects near where we hang out. I’ll have to do some research on this thing.
It is a beautiful, well made insect house. When the package arrived, I was surprised at how heavy it was. The wood is high quality. The joining is well done. So, why only three stars? This is not a practical insect house. The wood tubes that solitary bees use need to be removable. All of the middle components need to be removable for sanitary reasons. Unfortunately, these are all glued in. I am hoping to be able to chisel/saw/drill these areas out once insects have used them. If you are looking for a decorative item, you can't go wrong with this. If you want to be a friend to the insects in your garden, this will need adjustments.
Super cute insect house! I can't wait to add it to my garden when the weather gets warmer. I love all of the different sized holes. I am excited to see who moves into this house! On the back that is a hook to hang it on the fence or post.
I have wanted one of these forever. We have fruit trees and I've always wanted to put one up near them. It's not the time of year yet so I haven't seen any bugs in it but there will be! It smells so good, like wood and glue. It's solid and i feel like it will last a long time.
This is such a beautiful piece. It will be a great spot for insects to rest between going around my yard and neighborhood. This will be a wonderful addition to encourage nature to come do their job. I am so looking forward to seeing all of the insects that it will help bring to the yard.

Sturdy, finished, with a good variety of hole sizes
I've had a very basic bee house for a couple of years to support pollination in my garden but it was time to replace it. This is a sturdily-built beehouse with a nice variety of hole sizes. It has a clear finish on the wood to help it withstand the weather. The bamboo and hole blocks are firmly attached so unfortunately they won't be easily replaceable when it's time to clean and refresh-- a pity since the frame looks like it will last well beyond a couple of seasons. I'm not sure of the purpose for the wire-enclosed area at the top. I've seen them used to hold or pinecones or woodshavings but in this case there doesn't appear to be a way to access that area to add any. There is one picture-style hanger on the back for mounting.
This insect house is so cute and looks great in my garden outside. It is made of great quality wood material and is super sturdy. It’s fun to watch the different insects go in and out. I’ve had some beautiful butterflies check it out.
