A little harder ti cut than a regular pumpkin but it's possible. Your arm will be sore the next day but I think it was worth it because I have a pumpkin that will last hopefully for years. I recommend start with a sharp edge knife and do the more intricate design and work your way to the smoother lines. Little smell but doesn't last.

I liked being able to carve a “pumpkin” with less mess. I would have like it to be at least a pale orange on the inside rather than white so it looks more realistic. Maybe once it’s lit with a candle in the dark it won’t be as obvious it’s a fake pumpkin. The actual carving was pretty easy using a pumpkin carving tool kit.
Great for reusing for parties

Easiest to carve with a serrated knife!! And for round shapes it’s best to outline your design and slowly deepen the indentions. I made a wine (bag) dispenser! I may also draw on a jack-o’-lantern face in sharpie. Would only be better if the foam/plastic material were orange and not white, and if it weren’t as expensive. Very glad my edges are hidden

I like the fact that we can carve it and keep it forever and not have to worry about it rotting or the mess that comes with carving real pumpkins. The downside is that it’s not that easy to carve these faux pumpkins. I suggest using the smallest skinniest carving tool, that’s been the easiest for us.
Great pumpkins for carving

These pumpkins are great for carving. I’ve been using them for years. I use an xacto blade with small saw attachment. I then put small hooks on the sides and hang them on the porch.

Very to cute to leave as is. But wanted something to carve without the mess as their description says. But it is VERY hard to carve. & it does smell wierd. Would not recommended for Carving. Just for decor.

I bought these because real pumpkins melt in a day or two here. Unfortunately, these are just as hard to carve as a real pumpkin and will make your hand sore. They also make a HUGE mess of tiny styrofoam bits. If you don't mind these drawbacks, you could use this to carve an elaborate pumpkin and save it from year to year.

My husband and I were going to attempt to use these as pumpkin heads for a photoshoot. These are NOT carvable and shouldn't be listed as such. They would be cute for decoration indoors or out and could definitely be painted on but NOT good for carving.

Beware strong odor when carving very dangerous for children. Told target about it they did nothing. Don't buy at all. Get a real pumpkin these fumes are too dangerous for anyone.
Looks real. Great buy. Lasts forever

These pumpkins are a great price and a super easy craft. Plus, they are a great quality and will last for many years. If you need pumpkins for a space where real ones aren’t ideal, I highly recommend these. I have them in my classroom for fall/ October decor. My students love them just as much as I do! The only con about the pumpkin is the inside seem is very visible if you carve on it. Try to be aware of where you’re cutting so you can have the seem on the sides of the pumpkin.
Take that, woodland creatures!

As someone who gets mad every year when creatures consume the pumpkins I spent so much time intricately carving, whomever came up with this idea was a genius! Now I can keep my designs from year to year and they will lack the nibbles. Is it as easy as carving a real pumpkin? No, but it’s really not that much harder. The hardest part was carving a hole in the bottom to be able to access the inside of the pumpkin. I used a cheap pumpkin carving kit and it lasted until the 2nd to last pumpkin—so 4 designs total and two holes cut out of the bottom—before the blade bent and snapped. I ordered a heavy duty carving set and it was much harder to use. Go for the cheap, thin blades and just be careful and you’ll be fine. Also, wear a mask. There’s no way all that foam dust will be good for your sinuses or lungs. Once you’re done carving, I just took an emery board to the edges to smooth everything up. I weighted them down with rocks and they look great sitting on my steps. I’ve gotten so many compliments already and I’m thrilled I can keep them for next year, too.
Amazing if you get out your Dremel!!!!

Waste of money. Not easy at all. May be good for paining or decor and that’s it. Wish I read the reviews earlier.
