My 12 year old son helped me put this together and it was relatively easy to do so. Looks great my only complaint would be that the width was just a tad bit short to where my dvd player sticks out and I can't open the sliding doors. I've been needing to get a replacement dvd player so just be mindful of the size of the electronics you have so that the doors can slide freely.
Love the look of this. It was a perfect fit for my N.H. renovation. Considering this uses MDF, I found it better quality than I expected. It was much better quality than other million pieces to put together kits from the past. When finished, it doesn’t appear “cheap”, great value for price paid.
Only reason for not giving 5 stars is based on step 2 of 21. Step two has you attach the metal rod to the top front fascia. At this point it’s not clear which direction the rod needs to go, I looked at this step and picture several times. All other steps and photos were excellent. When I got to last step 21 where you hang barn doors on the rail, I realized which way step 2 should have gone. Luckily the metal railing was attached with 5 screws and I was able to unattached and flip the rail. I share this as I believe it was the one step that wasn’t extremely clear and others might not make the same mistake.
I am considering purchasing a second one for a bedroom.
I absolutely love this design; it is classic and clean, very french countryside. However, my husband found the assembly to be quite ridiculous and cheap (quality-wise with the wood used and such) so I do think it is way overpriced for the quality but nonetheless it looks fantastic and is a great addition to any room. I do not like the fact that it comes with holes at the top though and they include white circle stickers to cover up the holes which are obviously visible so it makes the whole thing look crappy. From far away you can't tell though... Overall, not a bad purchase.
Overall this console turned out very nice. Just a few things to note: on the back of one of the sliding doors, the wood color(which looks like paper)had come off revealing the presses wood underneath. I thought about exchanging however you will never see this imperfection because the doors slide back and forth and do not swing open. It was also quite time consuming to put together and you will need some space to place items. You will need a Phillips screw driver to complete.
