Pretty starter pot

I’ve had this pot since May 2021 and wanted to use it a bit before reviewing. First, it’s very pretty (I have the light blue). It’s also on the smaller so I don’t reach for it for large batch meals. I’ve used it less than I thought I would because it’s not as high quality as other brands of enameled cast iron that I already own. After 5 months of light use and hand washing the blue coating is chipping on the handles. It’s a cute starter pot if you’re new to cast iron cookware and want to try it before investing in other high quality brands but it will not last a long period of time. It’s decent for the price and if you aren’t using it daily.

So far so good! I was so excited about this Dutch oven and came directly home to make soup! I read the reviews so I was worried about staining but that didn’t happen for us. It washed perfectly and we had zero problems with anything sticking. So far I would definitely recommend this! It’s super cute, I love the handles and it just may have made the soup taste a tad better! Haha I’ve included photos during and after washing it.

Looks great and cooks fine but chips very easily. You get what you pay for, I guess--next time I'll upgrade to Le Creuset or something similar.

Cooks nice, but the interior stains easily.

I have blue one and it’s a beautiful pot and like all cast iron keeps its heat. I’ve done soups I. The oven and it works great. Unfortunately, the white interior stains right away. I’m not talking red sauce that you let sit in there forever. No, almost anything with any color to it will stain the interior of this pot. My noodles stick a lot too when I’m boiling pasta.

We absolutely love our Threshold dutch oven! We have had ours for 5 years and have had no problems with chipping, melting or discoloration. We have even put it in the oven at 450 degrees and it has been fine; I didn’t realize we couldn’t put it pst 350 until I started reading other reviews...oops! It sounds like issues with chipping and melting has happened recently and people with positive durable reviews bought theirs at the same time I did, so maybe it’s made differently now? I was going to buy the 3.5 but I might not now

I got this on clearance for $25–not sure if it was an error. I love this! I’ve seen photos of the enamel chipping. I hope it doesn’t happen to mine but if it does I’m glad I only paid $25. So far I’ve only used twice. The first time I actually warmed beans in a bbq pit and the fire got out of control and their was soot all over the pot. I thought it was a goner! But it easily cleaned up. Then I made chili on the stovetop. So far it’s holding up.

Got this as a gift and I absolutely love it. I see you cannot use the lid over 375 in the oven, makes sense. I'll make do if I need too. I use it for pasta sauce and it tastes amazing. It browns nicely and is pretty easy to clean. Not much else I can say. It's good for the price.

Personally great!

Meredith - 2 years ago
I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 SOLELY bc it has a low oven max temp, and if high baking temp is important to you, this probably isn't your dutch oven. That being said I bought this dutch oven bc it's on the cheaper side, it's cute, and I knew I would mostly be using it for stove-top cooking. If you want a high-quality product be prepared for a high-quality price, but for a big, enamel pot this is perfect! I have made so many delicious meals and haven't had any chipping issues!

Pot Roast Perfection :)

5 out of 5 stars
Coddynyc - 2 years ago
I bought this for my very first pot roast Sunday dinner to surprise my husband and bring bank memories now that we coolk at home everyday because the pandemic. I wanted a yellow one but didn't come in that color so I chose the white. Check all the pros and cons and the more positive comments made me get this one and let me tell you best decision ever and didn't have to pay 380 dollars. Follow the instructions in use and care and u will be happy. I love this Dutch Oven can wait to make a lot more meals with it and don't forget to sear your meat for the pot roast 3 minutes each side for more flavor. side note: the first I bought have a very small chip underneath the handle after a quick exchange life was good. Check your product carefully in the store before you pay.

Knob is plastic

Love it but I have to unscrew the plastic top knob in order to use it in the oven at over 375 degrees. I use it to bake bread and didn’t know the top knob can’t be in the oven past 375 degrees or else it will melt. Love it but that was a judge flaw. Wish I knew before I bought it.

I used it one time and I love it! The food was kept hot once it came out of the oven and clean up was so easy. The lid can not go in the oven above 375 degrees and it states that on the product. Very happy with my purchase

We've had ours for several years. The handles chipped right off the bat. It still works great for the price point and we use it often. I anticipate at some point it will chip in a place that will touch food and that is when we will upgrade to something of better quality. However, I still recommend this to someone if they want to try out a dutch oven at a lower price point. I've used this to bake no knead bread and it came out much better than with a pizza stone. We use this to make soups and stews as well and it's great. I would probably recommend buying it in store, if possible, as I'm betting that has less chance of it getting banged up before you use it. Not top notch quality, but has worked well for us for several years and was a great starter Dutch oven. If you have experience with Dutch ovens and can afford a better one, go with a better one. If not, start here. My attached photo is from several years of use, maybe 5+?
