1962 was a big year. Modernist design hit its peak and moved into homes across the country. And in Minnesota, Target was born — with the revolutionary idea to celebrate design for all. Project 62 embodies this legacy with a collection of modern pieces made for everyday living.
I love the look of this bookshelf, but I think the quality and ease of assembly is a bit low. While I was putting it together I found a few marks on some pieces and then when putting it together I managed to cause more damage. Overall it is built and will work for now, but I don't think it will last a long time, it's not very sturdy. I think the directions could use a bit of guidance as far as helpful suggestions, that might have helped me a lot in building it. I think if I had more money to spend on a bookshelf, I would have invested in something higher quality and real wood.
I'm pretty thrilled with this purchase. Excellent value for the price I paid ($145 on sale), and probably even at full price. Assembly was simple enough, but it did take a while. Instructions were straightforward. Finished product looks better than it did in the store, which is always a plus! The piece is pretty heavy, which is a plus because it is very sturdy and capable of holding quite a lot. (Note RE: weight -- I assembled the bookcase on my own, but moving either the unopened box or the fully assembled piece definitely requires two people!) I'm using it in my home office, but it would also look great in a living room or as a transitional piece. My favorite part is that every "space" of the bookcase is different, which is both visually and organizationally appealing.
I love this shelf so much. I put it in my office room and it goes so good with my decor. I out it all together by myself and it wasn't hard at all. The only thing I would change is the backboard of it is installed with screws instead of nails so that took a lot of hand muscle since I didnt have a drill bit for it. If it had finishing nails instead it probably would have been easier. Other than that this shelf is stunning overall.
