1962 was a big year. Modernist design hit its peak and moved into homes across the country. And in Minnesota, Target was born — with the revolutionary idea to celebrate design for all. Project 62 embodies this legacy with a collection of modern pieces made for everyday living.
For the price and size it’s a must buy - I love target brands for their faux plants/trees. They are excellent quality and a really good price. Does it look fake? Yes, but not in a bad way. I don’t care for the undersides of the leaves but you can manipulate them easily. Overall I’m obsessed and am considering buying another one.
Absolute bargain compared to other retailers. High quality.

This is not an easy item to find. I had to buy two of them for each side of a loveseat and had to go to 4 stores before I could find both of them. I believe each store only gets a few. This is absolutely beautiful and I've been on the hunt for a similar item for a while and couldn't find anything without it costing 3 or 4 times the price of this. It is much taller than it looks in pictures and looks pretty realistic, although I did notice that the area where the leaf attaches to the step can crack easily if you bend it.
This was so large and full, that I ended up returning one of them because two of them made my living room look like a jungle. One gives that fantastic Los Angeles/Old Hollywood sort of feel without going over the top. It really does add a lot to a room with lighter colored walls. The way the plant is shown in the Target photos with the leafs bent at different angles, in my opinion, is not the best way to display this. Don't bend the leaves and leave them straight up and it looks more impressive and realistic.
The pot is on the small side, which makes it easy to stick in a corner, alcove or next to a piece of furniture. However, although there is fake dirt in the pot, the pot is way too small for a real plant of its size. So, if you are looking for realism ... you may want to get another pot to place this in. The pot is weighted and will not tip over under normal use but I wouldn't place this in a breezy screen room. The plant looks oddly very real under most lighting ... however, when you get up close to it, you can see that it is artificial. Maybe making a few cuts in the leaf the way a real banana tree gets would help with this. Part of the reason for this is the back of the leaves look very fake and the front (glossy) side look real. However, it was designed so half the leaves show the back and half the leaves show the front when displayed. You cannot twist the leaves on the stems to show the front side, so there is my only issue with the plant.
This adds a classy design touch in any room and while the price may seem expensive for a Target item, trust me, I have looked everywhere for a similar plant and haven't found any that look as realistic (or big) for even a fraction of the cost. You'll be amazed at how much this ties a room together if you can fit it in your car. Just be careful because the thin rubbery/plastic where the leaves connect to the step break easily and once they do ... there's no hiding the crack. Get these while they last.
