Piece of junk

This record player is a piece of junk. This is the second time I purchased it. The first time the player became unbalanced. It made the records play as if they were warped (although they were not). Thinking I had just gotten a dud I tried again. With the second player the sound was terrible (very raspy). I thought maybe we had damaged the needle in some way so I purchased a new needle. This did not solve the problem. The sound is terrible. So now I am out the cost of two record players and one replacement needle.

Don't even bother with these cheap briefcase style turntables. We tried three separate units, all of which were dead on arrival. What good is a turntable that does not turn?

Was excited to finally get one, but on arrival was cheaply made, the motor is incredibly inconsistent, and played every warp in every record. Had to return and bought a more expensive better record player. DO NOT BUY! TERRIBLE PRODUCT!

This is the first record player I have ever purchased, and I can honestly say that I was unsatisfied with the experience. Several friends and family members have played their vinyls for me on their own turntables in the past, so I was familiar with the quality of the sound on these kind of devices. Many of the records I played on the Crosley Cruiser sounded extremely muffled and almost unbearable. I would NOT recommend this device to anybody, unless they don't mind mediocre sound quality. The design of the device is visually appealing, but it is cheaply made and consists mostly of plastic.

Purchased this for my 18 year old daughter for Christmas. It's brought back so many memories of when I was a kid in the 80's. She loves it.

Got this for my mom, she had an old turntable but the cord broke and she hasn't been able to listen to her records for a while. She was so excited and surprised to open this. Easy set up and soon we were rocking to her old vinyl!!

We returned this for two reasons. It looked very "cheesy", very cheap - but then it was very inexpensive, so the saying "you get what you pay for" applies. In addition, the sound on this was pretty bad.

I bought for my daughter as a Christmas gift. It played beautifully on first album, then after it skipped. It wasn't the album, which was brand new. Others said they had this problem. Taking it back. Sad cause she was excited about it.

I got this player for Christmas, it is a beautiful piece! Once I took it out of the box I could not open the case, the clasp was just not working and it was stuck. Once I got it open I played a couple of albums and it kept skipping constantly. I even went the distance to purchase a brand new ablum to see if it was my older records but even the new album was skipping. The audio sound was horrible

Great Beginner Record Player

I LOVE THIS! I just got it tonight. I was worried the sound quality would be bad, but it wasn't. Also, if you want it to be louder you can plug in speakers that have a headphone jack, I did this with my Jambox, but in the end I preferred its original speakers. The only negative I have to say is the clip that holds down the tone arm broke before I could unscrew the twist tie on it. Hopefully the protection plan I have covers a new one. But aside from that it is AMAZING!

Extremely Disappointed!

I bought this for my husband for Christmas along with a number of his favorite albums to help him begin rebuilding a vinyl collection he had lost. He was as excited as a little kid and as soon as he could he wanted to play it. I bought him all 33's and this player should have been able to handle them without any problems. First off you have to crank the volume knob way up to start hearing sound. That wasn't that much of a surprise because we know that to get good sound you really should get attached speakers. What was the most disappointing was that the belt which runs the turntable was off. All three speeds run way too slow. I'm disgusted with it and the look of disappointment on his face was crushing. I know it's no big deal, we'll get one that works. But, from the research I did, I was expecting a little more out of this turntable straight out of the box brand new. Don't waste your time.

Great value for the money

Bought this record player a week ago, and have played it for at least 10 hours already. It is sturdy and an attractive machine. The sound quality is amazing for such small speakers. We can easily hear it all over the house without even turning it all the way up. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. NOTE-- If you're the guy who expected this to run on batteries...you certainly don't understand the traditional record player, because this is just a really good re-make of the record players so many of us had as kids!

I bought this product brand new, took it home and plugged it in. The power light never came on, I tried different outlets and still no power. The light only flashed briefly if I turned the table with my hand. I will not buy this style of a record player again.

happy

picked one of these up today. I have been wanting a record player for a while and as far as entry-level equipment goes, this one sat right at a nice spot in my price range. This record player is designed to be portable, but ostensibly has the capacity to function as a more permanent installation. It has both on-board speakers and a back port for RCA cables. So theoretically, if a person already had a receiver through which to run the output signal from the player, it would function that way too. I have read complaints that the sound quality through the on-board speakers is poor, but the only reason i could see this being the case is that the operator doesn't know how to properly use audio equipment. Yes, if you turn the power all the way up, the signal gets a little gainy. So, don't turn it all the way up. Put on a record, sit down next to the player and listen to it. Otherwise invest in a receiver or a higher-end player. This does what it does just fine.

A portable record player that doesn't run on batteries is ridiculous, why on earth would crosley make this and why is there info on the crosley website?

Okay Product

I was very interested in getting a new, more compact record player, nothing fancy, just something to play my music and store. This was nice for something basic, but if the record has any bit of a warp to it, the player will speed it up and then slow it down...severely distorting the sound. I would not recommend this player unless your records are in perfect condition and you don't want that great of sound.

Impressed

dbenton - 11 years ago
I purchased this at my local Target store and have been thoroughly impressed with it. I'd purchased a different Crosley turntable, comparable in features and price, from a different retailer and returned it after it didn't play records correctly. I was thrilled to have found this locally, and have been thoroughly impressed by it. It includes everything you need to start a vinyl collection, and is compact and easy to use. If you're looking for a great entry-level record player that has unique styling and is easy to use, this is it!
