Charger doesn't work any longer

I have had my chromebook for under a year, and the charger or the port is not working any longer. I have tested other chargers (phone chargers that fit) and it turns the light on where the battery light is. But won't charge because it's not strong enough. I am thoroughly disappointed because I need this for school and can't find a new charger online. Because I'm not sure which one to buy.

So far so good. We bought this for my 15 yr old to use for school work on google classroom. He just finished researching and typing his first paper with it. He said the speed is sufficient and he had no problems. He likes that it is also a touchscreen. For the price I felt like this was our best option based on reviews and website recommendations. So far it seems durable. I will update if that changes.

I have been on the hunt for a new Chromebook. I have a first gen HP 14 about to run out on updates I'm replacing. I have literally tried and returned 3 different models and makes prior to this one for various reasons. 1 almost ticked the boxes except for a few issues (and was a higher priced model so I wasn't willing to overlook them). 1 was fast and the same size as this but HORRIBLE SCREEN. And the 1 I tried right before this had a beautiful screen but could not play a single YouTube video without freezing. So needless to say my expectations were starting to fall and I wondered if Chromebooks just weren't made as well as when I bought my G1 HP. Thankfully, this baby finally meets my expectations. Lovely screen, faster than my HP I'm replacing, access to the Playstore which my HP was too old for. I'm loving the keyboard, it's got a lovely feel to it and is just nice to clink away on. The backlit keyboard was an unexpected surprise and something I didn't expect to like but find myself enjoying. I've seen some complain about the trackpad but I have no issue with it. The touchscreen seems quite nice as well although I haven't used it much nor do I expect to. I was really just wanting a typical laptop. The speakers sound great. The battery is way better than my HP and I would say certainly at or around the advertised 12 hours. And as a bonus I just think it's a really nice looking machine. I'm betting few people would guess it be under the $300 mark. It seems much higher quality. My only complaint, and I can't even really say I care much about this, is there is a trim along the bottom of the machine that feels kind of sharp. Not to the point of cutting. It's more of an annoyance but only noticed when picking up the computer from the bottom and moving from point a to point b. I'm holding it now in my lap and it doesn't touch against me. So as it stands now, baring any unexpected problems, my search is finally done at least until 2023 which appears to be the cut off year for updates on this machine if I'm reading the updates list from Google correctly.

Let me start by saying I have always been a casual laptop user, with most of my powerhouse work being done on a fast desktop that I keep up to date. My last laptop was an HP with great specs but they can be costly. I also have a few iPads around that my kids and I use for casual surfing and netflix. After seeing the price on this chromebook I thought I would take a risk. I bought it for $249 on sale and let me tell you, its a good deal for what you get. I sometimes have multiple videos running at the same time and it handles it well. Screen is bright and the speakers are great. This claims it can get 12 hours of life out of the battery with casual use but I'm going to guess that brightness was turned all the way low because I've been seeing about half that with it most the way up - still very good compared to most laptops. And with recent chrome OS updates this thing has started to run better. I threw a 128gb micro SD card in and now its my daily driver for anything I need. It can charge via USB-C, on BOTH sides, turns of quick and is super slim and light. Does not get hot and is responsive for what you paid. I would hands down recommend this over any other chrome book at the price point. Oh yeah - backlit keyboard!

I have normal eyesight but there is no way to change the size of font in any toolbar. Not a big deal, but trying to connect anything takes way too long and speed is average at best. Bonus: if you don't have a wireless printer you can't connect it to the laptop without buying a cd player to plug into the laptop to run the printer setup cd. This laptop is more trouble than it is worth, and the Chrome OS isn't compatible with anything!! Toshiba, HP, Dell, literally anything is better than this Chromebook. Not good!! Returning ASAP!!

We are sorry to hear this; Chromebooks are different from standard laptop products in that they are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet, with most applications and documents living in the cloud. Because of this they don’t have much for on board storage but they also are not expensive either. Chromebooks run off apps like an Android phone or tablet so you cannot download and install applications or .exe files. If you need to use third party software applications that must be installed on the computer, a Chromebook is likely not for you, where a Windows laptop would suit you better. With that said, we understand you returned the Acer Chromebook but we would have been happy to provide support for you. If in the future you need assistance with an Acer product, feel free to contact support from the info posted at http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service-contact We appreciate you taking the time to write this review. Best regards, Acer America
