A: I have both, and for reading only, my Kindle Paperwhite is a WAY better experience. Lighter weight to hold, WAY longer battery life, and a screen so anti-glare that outdoors in the sun it's actually easier to read than real paper. BUT if you want to do anything BESIDES reading, it's pretty limiting. In that case the Fire is the right choice. I use mine for everthing from writing (external Bluetooth keyboard) to digital boardgames to editing videos for YouTube. And of course web surfing and email.

A: I'm typing on one right now. Mine's a Logitech. I touch type quite fast and there's no lag in response time. The only time I miss my computer is those rare instances when I wish I had a mouse cursor on the screen for better positioning control. Experimenting with a Bluetooth mouse is next on my list.
