Citronellol and linolool are both naturally occurring compounds found in fragrance ingredients, like essential oils. Neither citronellol nor linolool are considered phototoxic, as they do not absorb UV light in a way that would lead to phototoxic reactions. The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) ­does not classify either citronellol or linalool as phototoxic, but we do voluntarily list them on our labels as some individuals may experience general skin sensitization.
