I have been wanting to try Sous vide cooking for quite some time now and finally picked up the Anova nano on sale about a month ago. I have made steak (both a lower end less than 1” thick steak and an expensive 2+” thick steak). They both cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend using a thicker steak though. So nice to have my steak perfectly medium rare through and though. So delicious. I have also made pork tenderloin and a pork roast and both turned out with a melt in your mouth texture. Tried ahi tuna and chicken breast today and again, it was perfection! The chicken was so moist (not always easy to do with a big hunk of breast meat) and the tuna was a nice medium rare. I also love that you have a nice big window for the food to be fully cooked. It offers a lot of flexibility. I almost cannot imagine cooking my meat, dish and poultry any other way now!
Had always heard good things about cooking with a sous vide so I finally broke down and bought one. Glad I went with the Anova, very easy to use! Have only used it a few times so far but I love the results!
Admittedly, I love a kitchen gadget. We use our air fryer, instant pots (yes, plural), crock pots, etc. While the instant pots and crock pots can make cooking a large piece of meat very easy, we don't always want well cooked shredded meats. This is where my Anova sous vide excels. I can still achieve the same hands off cooking, but at the end we have steaks, pork, or chicken that is tender and juicy. Best steaks we've ever made. I've also been utilizing it for soft boiled eggs for breakfast and have been very pleased with the results. With three small kids underfoot, its not easy to keep watch over our gas cooktop in the morning and get other things done. I love being able to drop the eggs in the sous vide, (167 degrees for 13.5 minutes) set a timer, and walk away with no worries about my two year old "adjusting" the gas burner.
This was my first Sous Vide cooker so I don’t have anything to compare to. This thing is awesome! You can use it without the app or with it. It is simply plug it in, dial in your temp, then press start. I have made ribeye, lobster tail, chicken breast, and sirloin roast with this cooker and it has all been phenomenal. I’m thinking of buying a second one.
