This is a great basic outdoor camera for the price. Fairly easy set up. Really clear video and came w 3 month free vid cloud storage, affordable monthly fee to continue. Has motion spot light, siren capable, 2 way audio, and optional add on emergency response service. Some limitations with 5 min. record time but otherwise would recommend. Getting one for my mom for her added security living alone.

Terrible experience. Do not buy this camera. Very misleading service Packaging, product details, app and website fail to be transparent about the fact that there is a connection fee that starts at a minimum of $129. Rude customer service when I inquired why this was not told to buyers or asked for a trial period. Get a Nest or Ring and avoid at all costs.

Bought one of these and after four hours of trying to connect it, fighting to get a hold of customer service, and getting beyond irritated, we exchanged it for a new one. Brought that one home hoping the first one was just faulty and had the same issue. Can’t even get the cameras to connect. We are young technologically savvy people. This is not user error or a weak internet connection. We are facing a threat at home and NEED the security. Beyond frustrating.

Camera worked at the begenining and after a few months it just runs out of battery super fast so I have to charge it almost every half week or week. I bought the plan to only detect certain objects and that worked for awhile then it just stopped working and it detects everything in which make the battery waste Ben more battery. Customer service is the worst I seen so far there definitely no help at all DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT

This camera is not the best its battery life sucks, it says that it last 6 months but that is definitely not true it last about 2 days top. I also hate that it won’t record everything (that is probably due to wifi range ) and has a delay real time camera but over all you could get a better camera then this one.

Hi Amanda, It sounds like you may have too many triggers resulting in a much faster battery drain. You can check to see how many recordings you are receiving a day as well as the amount go motion triggers you are receiving. The average use assumes that you are using Optimized or Best Battery Life video settings and that your cameras record for approximately five minutes per day. Regards, Arlo Team

Stops Working As Expected

Shortly after the subscription ended the device stopped working properly. Lost both sound and spotlight for the device. I tried everything from restarting to factory reset. Arlo will not assist you with anything unless you purchase a plan which is unfair to the consumer if the product does not work and Target will not allow you to return it. Would not recommend!

Giving it 4 stars because it’s a great camera with really good quality but it does have a little bit of a delay so notifications aren’t accurate by like 30 seconds. Which is more than enough time for someone to run away if they did something in your yard etc. Also you do have to get a subscription after 3 months but it’s only like $4 a month.

Live in the city and got this camera to watch my car parked on the street since my street gets a lot of hit and runs. No way is it high def enough to see license plates as it says in the description. You might be able to make out the model of the car if you’re good with cars. Battery went down to 20% after one week—possibly due to high activity, not sure. Says in the product details battery should last 6 months. However, it did catch my neighbor hitting my other neighbor’s side mirror off with his truck and not leaving a note. Yup, another hit and run. Still browsing for better options. Probably better for driveways and backyards than street surveillance.

Hi Bp123, You camera may be placed a little too far for you specific application. For best results, ensure that side-to-side traffic crosses Arlo's field of view. Arlo's motion sensor is much more sensitive to side-to-side movement across its field of view than to movement directly toward or away from the camera. The best area for motion detection is 5 feet to 20 feet (1.5 to 6 meters) from the camera position. Average use assumes that you are using Optimized or Best Battery Life video settings and that your cameras record for approximately five minutes per day. Increasing the length or quantity of video recordings in your camera's modes and rules decreases your battery life. Having a camera placed in a high traffic are will trigger much more therefore depleting the battery quicker. Regards, Arlo Team

Too short

When it records motion, the videos are too short in length time so you might miss something. Get one that records longer when it senses motion. Also, night vision isn't the best. Unless you have the spotlight on, night recording can be poor quality.

To troubleshoot a potential range issue, you cn bring the camera closer to the router to see if the disconnects are eliminated. Additionally, if the router is placed too close to other wireless frequency devices, you may be experiencing wireless interference. But once I was able to set it all up, it worked great.
