A: No, the inner lid isn’t removable. I wipe it down after each use and make sure I get the moisture out from under the inner seal. I’ve had mine for well over a year and this has worked fine for removing all the excess moisture.

A: I have a similar model that is excellent at slowly caramelizing onions on low heat. I can also get some brown on meat before stewing and saute a mirepoix for sauces. But it won't deep fry or stir fry.

A: I am disappointed--my older model has both high and low slow cook. Would it be effective to cook a dish on high slow cook and just let it go on the "keep warm" setting if you are not back from work?

A: Yes, ours also had that chemical stink - we returned it because it didn't go away after trying to use it several times. We've had several Aroma rice cookers in different sizes before this one, and none of them ever had any smell at all.

You can add two cups of water along with 1 cup of a white or distilled vinegar. Set the unit to steam for 20-25 minutes. Once done wipe down lid with a cloth or paper towel. This will help clean off the lid as well as the silicon gasket.
