Delicate Product

Thankfully everything came in the box but the problem is that this thing is so delicate that during esembly 2 of the boards completely split. Another was broken while trying to fold it into the chair position. Which it can't do unless you want the whole bed to be completely broken. These have to be thee most delicate wooden boards in existence to split just by putting even a small ammount of pressure onto them. I had to use other boards to replace the ones that were broken because the manufacturer that the packet said to email has yet to get back to me after almost a month. It's ridiculous how cheap this wood is and you can get a sturdier bed frame much cheaper. The only thing I will give it is that when it works it works and is very comfortable, if I wasn't scared to completely brake the whole thing everytime I sit or lay down on it.

Assembly is the worst, wrong label of wood, missing parts. The assembly instruction manual was not helpful at all you have to figure out yourself, Epic Furnishings company making this should have known their manual is not helpful, if they improve on the instructions they might get more sales.

Don't buy it.

Parts were mislabeled and in some cases missing with a duplicate of another part in its place. Much worse, the instructions ask not to contact the vendor but the manufacturer for problems and questions, and lists an email. I did so several days ago and have had no response. As it stands, I'll have to make a trip to the hardware store to hopefully find suitable screws to replace the missing ones, and drill my own holes in the slats to compensate for not receiving the correct ones. Possibly the holes might just be sloppily measured--several slats clearly had what had been second holes, filled in because they evidently had been drilled in the wrong place. Do not waste your money on this, and Target, this is clearly a manufacturer with whom you should sever your relationship.

Decent Product, Horrible Assembly Instructions

2 out of 5 stars
Mitch - 1 year ago, Verified purchaser
This frame is about what you'd expect for the money in terms of overall quality. The wood is somewhat roughly finished and would benefit from light sanding and staining if it was to be used indoors (ours is going outside, so I left it natural). One slat was delivered cracked, but I don't think it compromised the structure integrity. The included assembly tools are the usual junk. You will want to use your own. The biggest issue with this futon is the assembly instructions. They are laughably bad, but you probably won't be laughing after reassembling multiple times to get it put together right. The illustrations are at such a low resolution as to be completely illegible and utterly useless. Some of the parts are not labeled the same as in the instructions, so you will be doing a bit more guessing about what goes where. Assembly instructions are in important part of any product that requires assembly, so who puts this paperwork in the box without noticing how deficient it is? The massive instructions failure turns what might have been a satisfying hour job into an infuriating three hour job. So while the final product isn't a bad value for the money, it gets downrated for those horrible instructions.

This futon frame is very well made and it's made of solid wood. Everything was clearly labeled, which made putting it together pretty simple. There was also a number you could call with any assembly questions. It took about 1.5 hours to put together and I'm very happy with the end result.

I like it. It is pure clean poplar wood and sturdy. You can kneel on it, sit on it, sleep on it and the slats don't move. I don't feel them through the futon either. It is hard to put together and I still don't know if i did it right. I managed to get it to lie flat as a bed and then with the back up and footrest down as a lounger. It is hard to move the back with a full sized 8" futon on it though. I feel like if I tuck the footrest all the way under, my mattress will be touching the floor and I don't like that. I just have it tilted down a little. The instructions are like a puzzle you have to decipher. They do have a toll free number though you can call. I managed to do it on my own. All the parts and tools are there, but if you have a drill, you won't get calloused hands like I did trying to insert the screws into the wood. I think it is a great deal for the price, you just better be ready for a wood working experience.

WORST PRODUCT I HAVE EVER BOUGHT FROM TARGET.COM.

I ordered a queen size frame, and other than the width of 60", the dimensions listed do not match it at all. The seat depth is listed as 36" but is in fact only 24". With the foot rest up, the depth becomes 44", so I know that couldn't have been included. The seat height is 6" from the floor at the back and 10" from the floor at the front. The foot rest is 9 3/4" when fully up. The top of the back is 30 1/2" from the seat and 35" from the floor - MUCH different from the 40" listed. Because the actual measurements are so stunted, the frame does not fit a queen mattress in the sitting position at all. The only way to get it to fit a queen mattress is to lay it flat like a bed AND pull the foot rest up with it. If you want to sit on it, you have to pull the foot rest up level with the seat in order to keep the mattress from sliding off, and then the seat is way too deep to be a normal seat. Furthermore, it is way too low to be a comfortable seat. We wanted this to take the place of a sofa, but 10" is just ridiculously low. That is my fault, I should have paid more attention to that part of the listing. But that being said, the entire thing is so oddly proportioned and sized so differently from what is listed that it's a total joke. I thought perhaps my husband had put it together incorrectly because the instructions are incredibly confusing, but he assures me that everything lines up in the only way possible and all the pieces are labeled so you can't really get them wrong. Definitely returning this ASAP.
