Misleading title, some projects do not have any instructions

1 out of 5 stars

I was hoping to be able to make awesome LEGO creations with bricks I already have, just like the title promises. Sadly, the title of this book is very misleading for two main reasons. (1) Many of the bricks called for to use in the projects/creations are never (or rarely) found in LEGO's creative/classic brick boxes. In fact, in the brick guide/introduction, the author provides weblinks to where you can buy specialty bricks online. Some of the specialty bricks that you'll need for the projects include modified bricks (for example a brick with a clip or stud on the side), brackets, cones and domes, tiles (bricks that are smooth on top), and technic bricks. (2) Not all of the creations come with step-by-step instructions. There are many projects that are called the "non-instruction creative challenge." The lack of instruction is extremely frustrating and disappointing as I bought this book fully expecting all projects to have instructions.

Brilliant ideas for using what you have

Has given my 6 year old some great inspiration for new things to build using the bricks he already owns. I imagine he'll still be trying the structures in the book for a few years to come as the suggestions range in complexity.

This book is a total hit with my boys. They tell me daily how much they love it and have already built 10+ of the designs. They are 5 and 7 and can work independently on the designs. It has also sparked their imagination for more ideas. We have the DK Lego Idea book and the Lego Adventures book but this one is so much better because it is suited for the actual construction of projects that kids can easily follow. My son likes it that is uses legos that he already has in his bin. Awesome book and great price from Target. Thanks!
