Q: Is a serving size on the nutrition label dry or cooked pasta?

submitted by Littleperfection - 1 year ago
  • A: Thanks for reaching out and for your interest in Banza! Happy to help here! 2 ounces of our rotini (measured dry) yields about 1/2 cup, whereas 2 ounces of our rigatoni (measured dry) yields about 1 cup. When you cook Banza, it almost doubles in size and weight, taking on the water it’s boiled in. That said, the nutritional content still reflects that of the dry pasta you measured before cooking. While the ounces-to-cups conversion varies by pasta shape, generally, a 2 oz serving expands to roughly one cup once cooked. Pasta la vista, Team Banza

Q: Why does the front of the box say 20g of protein then the nutrition label on the back says 14g per serving? What happened to the other 6g? This makes me question this brand and the ingredients

submitted by concerned - 2 years ago
  • A: Thank you for reaching out. The front calls out *per 3.5 oz serving. It is 14g of protein per 2 oz serving and 20g of protein for a 3.5 oz serving. Both serving sizes should be noted on the back of the box.

    World's Best

The best gluten-free pasta in the world, maybe the best pasta of any kind. OK, a friend's mother's freshly-made egg pasta in northern Italy came close. Anyway, Banza Angel Hair's flavor is rich. I recommend it with pesto.

We think this is the best tasting alternative pasta. It has a nice consistency, and is super high in protein and fiber.

    Healthy or Actually Still Toxic?

Haven’t seen any reviews on the atrocious chemical odor every time pasta is cooked & ready to be strained in colander. There was some mention years ago about dangerous chemicals in the chickpeas… Glyphosate to be exact, which is a known Carcinogen… Is this chemical actually gone or not??? Since I am a blood cancer patient, this is a hard pass for me! This pasta can’t be cooked for more than 3-5 minutes or it turns to mush. Honestly wondering if this product has actually been changed & is a healthy substitute for gluten free or NOT!?! I can’t recommend bcs of that obnoxious mystery chemical odor.

Hi there -- we're bummed to hear about your recent experience with our pasta - this is definitely not how Banza is supposed to whip up during mealtime. Could you kindly send a quick note to info@eatbanza.com so our team can gather some details and make things right?

    Best Noodles!

My son is picky about his noodles! Him having down syndrome sometimes makes texture a hurdle when trying to find alternative foods. He can't tell the difference from flour based noodles! This may be TMI but I find less bolting following a pasta meal with the chickpea noodles. Our family only cooks with Banza noodles, and we recommend them to everyone!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I am so happy to have found Banza products. I have severe allergies to wheat and I also have sensitivities to nightshades and rice. So as you can imagine finding any gluten free pasta that does not contain rice and tastes like real pasta is extremely hard. But Banza to the rescue!! Thank you for making this wonderful product. I make the elbows about twice a week. I also love the plain pizza crusts so I can make my own white sauce pizzas. Yes, chickpea pasta is more delicate than wheat pasta and I found the best way to keep it's integrity is to boil water, add pasta, stir and bring back to a boil, cook for about 3 minutes, then turn off stove and put a lid on the saucepan and let the pasta sit in the hot water for about 10 minutes. Then strain and rinse and enjoy.
