If you've been collecting Barbies for awhile you are familiar with other collections, such as the Faraway Forest, as one example, the Elf, the Water Sprite, even the Lady of the White Woods (the one I was the least excited about) had the most amazing details and unique qualities. Every doll in this Gold Label collection was exquisite in my opinion. The clothing, the accessories, even the skin coloring and face painting. Now this Mythical Muse Series, also a Gold Label collection which is supposed to be their BEST, I admit I really liked Unicorn but I was less impressed with the second doll the Enchanted Mermaid, though still worth buying with cool details, but this final edition, this Dragon Empress doll, confuses and scares me a bit. This is a GOLD LABEL doll, expensive in the terms of purchasing a plastic Barbie, what makes it worth it are the details. This doll is so underwhelming! She has very few details and the ones she does have such as the wrapping dragon bracelet and shoes, look like incredibly cheap plastic. But the wings were the most disappointing! Where are the scales? Where is any detail, besides a simple two-tone paint job? She is an odd, sick greenish pale color, nothing fiery or reptilian like, the two different directions a dragon doll could go. This was a MISSED OPPORTUNITY and a perfect chance to add a doll of color to the collection with a GORGEOUS BRONZE skin tone! Now that would have been amazing! Even her headpiece looks like it doesn't fit on her head, it sits awkward and I really cannot tell what it is supposed to look like. So, needless to say I am terribly sad about her. She should have been the final MASTERPIECE of the collection. Can you imagine the kind of details that could have been on a DRAGON EMPRESS? The name seems a little like a cruel joke. This looks like a child play quality doll but that wouldn't work either as she is not moveable! Even the Black Label (which is supposed to be not as high of a level as Gold) Dias de Muertos Barbie BLOWS THIS GOLD LABEL DOLL AWAY. Now I am left in a quandary. I want to complete my collection as she is the last doll, but I don't think she is worth the money. Do I want to reward poor workmanship and lack luster creativity? I don't want to encourage this in the future? I strongly feel Mattel should honor all of us collectors and REDO this doll. It was a SERIOUS lost opportunity to build on the momentum they had going with the new surge in doll collecting. I am afraid this might stop the excitement in its tracks!! I HATE WRITING THIS, but I have to be true to others interested in this doll! I want to assure new buyers there are others, that are far better.
