Satisfy your cat's natural scratching urges with the Basic Corrugated Scratcher from Boots & Barkley™. Made from durable cardboard with a corrugated surface, this cat scratcher not only gives them an ideal surface for scratching, but also gives you a lightweight option that's easy to move around your home. Featuring a catnip pouch inside, this corrugated scratcher tempts your kitty to use it to relieve their scratching urges, helping to discourage them from scratching your furniture.
This is not nearly the same quality as the Smarty Kat scratchers that Target carried before. The cardboard is softer. My cats dug through one in just a couple of weeks instead of months. Also, it's glued down into the box, so you can't flip it over when they've used up the top. The cats are happy to use it, but the durability is just not good enough for the price. The new one looks worse than the Smarty Kat scratcher I was replacing, which is several months old. I included a picture of the two side by side. The Boots & Barkley is a dollar more.
The cat started using this immediately after my husband hung it up. He screwed it vertically to a 2x4 post on the stairs into his workshop where the cat spends most of her time. He sprinkled the enclosed catnip onto it. She uses it often, and it's already getting shredded after about a week of use. I wouldn't want it in the house because I would have to constantly vacuum up the shredded pieces. Not as necessary in the workshop. I'm not sure how long it will last until it will need to be replaced. I'm guessing at this rate about 6 weeks. At least it's not expensive to replace.
