The Bell Sports Flip Up Training Wheels help you to teach your children how to ride a bike on their own. They have a flip-up design that allows you to disengage them without having to remove the units entirely, which makes is convenient if you have multiple children of different skill levels using the same bicycle. These Bell Sports training wheels are easy to install and they fit wheels between 12" and 20" in diameter so you can use them with kids of varying ages. To teach balance, training wheels are designed to be 1/8-1/4 inch off the ground on either side when properly installed. Maximum weight limit of 50lbs.
As others have said, it doesn't fit 12" wheels. I verified wheel size on the bike. The traning wheels hang below the bike wheels. Instructions are poorly written and confusing. Returning since it doesn't fit.

Target recommended this item as "frequently bought together" with a 20 inch bike also sold at Target. The bike in particular did not have a long enough rear axle to accept ANY training wheels no matter what brand so I had to return this product. When I was trying to install it I noticed there was a manufacturing defect where a sharp metal spike was left on one of the metal brackets. I actually scraped my finger on the spike that is how I found it was there. See picture I drew a yellow circle around the tiny metal spike sticking out.
I bought these training wheels for my 2 1/2 year old grandsons bicycle. The wheels on his bike are 11", not the 12" recommended so there was some adjusting we needed to do, but once we got them fitted properly to his bike they are working very well. He picked up on how to ride the bike very quickly and is enjoying following his big brother around. We used a socket wrench to install them.
