We were so excited to try this, and it was such a disappointment for us. My son can not stand it, doesn’t stay closed, leaks and doesn’t have big enough space for good portions of food. This is not something I would ever recommend to buy.

I have two of these & they are perfect for my elementary school kids. They fit plenty of food, nothing leaks & I haven't had any complaints about opening or closing them.

Lasted 5 months, my son loves his lunch box but one of the side clips is now broken. I cannot even buy a new one because it's out of stock. We're disappointed
Only lasted halfway through the school year. The clips were breaking within the first week.

I liked the 3 compartments and their sizes but after a few uses the lid no longer closes at all! So disappointing we can’t take them on the go. We just use them for meals at home without lids.

I like how my son can easily open and close the lunchbox but it’s something I wouldn’t recommend for school, maybe something to use on a short trip or something to use on the road.

Not best quality - 5 months ago, Verified purchaser
I bought this despite some reviews I read. It was really great for pretty much daily use for my son. Lately, it is a struggle to close and I had to put a rubberband for my son to use it at school today. His brother as a bentobox that is a few months older and is doing great. Now I know where to spend my money.

This is a cute box. I would prefer the top didn’t come off fully but other than that it’s great for the price!

I love this bento lunch box. My toddler has no problem opening and closing it. I don’t either. It stays shut if you align the lid (it’s that simple). Would I pack soup in it? No. But that’s fine, I’d just use a soup container for something leaky like that. The large compartment fits a sandwich just fine. The small compartments hold snacks like fruits, vegetables and crackers. I have not had any of the compartmentalized food cross over into other sections. The container is dishwasher safe. I hand wash the lid usually as I don’t want the cute decals to fade. I really like this container, mom approved.
Hard AF to get closed. It's ridiculous and I've ended up spilling the contents trying to get one or more sides to snap closed. I have the pink shark one.

Limited Boy Choices

I like this, but don’t appreciate the selection for boys - goof item at a good price point. But…. I get that Target is going more gender neutral, but why can’t dinosaurs just be their actual colors? Why do they need to be rainbow? Why does the shark design need to have a pink design? There was really only one that my son liked due to the colors and it was the skateboard one which he doesn’t even really like. Plus all the boys at his school have this same back-pack due to the limited boys selection. I went to buy more and they were sold out right away because of the boys selection. These should be available yearlong for replacements. Disappointed and wish target would go gender neutral without pink.

It is so hard to close. I have 2 boys 4 years and 6 years. Elder one said he can close the lid. However the 4 year old is having difficulty because the preschool teacher said it's too hard for him for his age. It is definetly tight to close. Those snaps aren't the best kid friendly snaps.

It's ok but leaks between compartments
3 out of 5 stars
Smaime - 7 months ago, Verified purchaser
Pros: It's cute, works well for dry foods, easy to wash Cons: If you have anything juicy or wet it will leak between compartments, it's a snug fit in my kid's (average sized) lunchbox so there's no room to add a separate leakproof container for fruits. I think we'll still use it occasionally, but I was really hoping that it would be leakproof so I could avoid using sandwich bags.
