Q: what are the directions to make this?

submitted by crime - 3 years ago
  • A: it says just add water!

submitted byjeremy - 3 years ago
  • A: I'm sure it's on the bake of the box; like all other baking products. Lol

submitted byFaith - 3 years ago
  • A: The directions say 1/3 cup of cold water for a two crust pie, but I find that nearly 1/2 cup works better. I've been using this mix for the last 35 years, and I think it's the best on the market!

Don't waste your time buying this pie crust mix.

Don't waste your time buying this pie crust mix. The box states that you can make enough crust for a 9 inch pie (top and bottom). I rolled the crust almost paper thin and it was impossible to have enough crust for a 2 crust pie. And of course, it looks nothing like the picture on the box. Another deceptive consumer ripoff. You would need 2 boxes, or better yet, make your own from scratch

I was nervous to use this after reading the reviews, but I didn’t have any problems. I made one crust (half of the mix) and added the water that it called for. I just had to use a little elbow grease to mix it together, but it came together perfectly! I floured my counter and rolling pin and rolled it out with no issues! I would definitely buy this again. AND it tasted great!

Well that just wasted 45 minutes of my retired time I will never get back! Should have read the reviews that “Betty Crocker Rep” has never taken the time to respond! First off the direction are wrong!!!! How on gods green earth can it call for 1/3 plus the tablespoons of water for making just one crust but only 1/3 cup for two crusts! What a mess it made attempting to make two pie crusts. I finally scraped the mess out of my pie pans

I was skeptical about ordering this pie crust based on the reviews, but took a chance. I decided to make pumpkin pie, which is why I wanted this crust and b/c it is the only boxed crust I could find. I followed the directions for one pie crust. I added the dry dough, and water to a stainless steel bowl and stirred with a wooden spoon and all I could see were crumbles of dough and thought the reviews were right, then thought, it can't be. I took the spoon and started smashing down the dough so the crumbles would stick together and they did. A clump was starting to form. I started to play and swirled the bowl like a bread maker would do to form the ball of bread dough. Once the ball formed, I put it in the middle of the 9" pie pan and spread it out with my fingers. Either the glass pie dish or the amount of dough the measurements called for to make one crust did not allow for that pretty thick edge around the perimeter, but the dough did come up high enough in the dish to hold the pumpkin mixture. Anyway the pie hit the spot. I do recommend and it sure beats going to the store. savoure ta tarte!

Do not buy this mix. It is horrible. Followed the instructions for water measurements and it was really dry and hard to form into a ball. Had to add a little bit more water, and one rolled into a ball was really sticky. While trying to roll out to flatten the dough, it kept breaking. I went ahead and just bought a frozen crust instead.

Why on gods green earth would you ever change your pie crust mix? It used to be the ultimately perfect pie crust, and now it’s horrible. I will never buy it again. Add to that the fact that the instructions for making it aren’t even correct, because there’s no way you can form it with so little water. I don’t know who decided it was time for you all to produce a different pie crust mix, but it’s an epic fail.

I agree with the other people posting. This product was my go to for many years. The last couple of years, the product is tasteless and unacceptable. At first I thought I had a bad box, but 2 years in a row the problem has been the same. I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER BOX!!! Please bring back the old recipe!

This sucks! First time buying it and it’s awful. I tried rolling it and it would break. And then I added water and it still would break. I also added a teaspoon of butter and got it work a little bit but I was not able to roll it so I ended up adding it to the baking pan but can’t get the second part to close the filling. I do not recommend this product.
