About this item
The present book offers thorough coverage of biomarker/biosensor interaction for the rapid detection of weapons of bioterrorism, current research trends, and future developments and applications. This book is useful to researchers in this field interested in new developments in early detection of weapons of bioterrorism. The authors of the present book have collected very valuable and in some aspects indispensable experience in the area related to the issue of the book, i.e. in the development and application of portable biosensors for potential hazards detection. Most efforts are being paid to the development of immunochemical assay including flow-lateral systems and engineered antibodies and their fragments. Besides, new approaches to the detection of enzyme inhibitors, direct enzymatic and microbial detection of metabolites and nutrients have been elaborated and in some cases realized in prototypes and concept devices quite applicable for the further use as a base of the cooperation programs within the book activity. From detection systems, electrochemical and optical systems are of most attention including those employed carbon nanotubes, quantum dots, metal nanoparticles etc. The authors are well known international scientists and most of them Editors of world wide known international scientific journals.Although the biosensors recently developed utilize already known principles, the principles of the biosensing devices which will be described can significantly shorten the time required for success achievement and enhance the efforts in more consuming directions, e.g. the remote sensing systems and validation in real samples analysis. The authors can promote the achievements in any stage of the biosensor development, i.e. the selection of biochemical component, its implementation in the biosensor assembly, detection principles improvement and application for real samples assay.
