Q: Is this a steam vacuum ?

submitted by Winky - 5 years ago
  • A: No, the CrossWave doesn't steam. The BISSELL CrossWave is designed to vacuum and wash sealed hard floors and rugs simultaneously, eliminating the need to sweep then mop. For carpet, we'd still recommend a separate dry vacuum and deep cleaner. Hope this helps!

Q: I've been using the Bissel solution however I want to know if we can use venigar water mixture or not? Anyone tried it ?

submitted by Livelove - 7 years ago
  • A: Good question however we do not recommend using vinegar as it could damage the machine.

submitted byAskBISSELL - 7 years ago

  • A: I used vinegar and water in mine and it ruined it. Tried to get it fixed, called all of the places they recommended and no one was helpful! Have since thrown it away and am considering buying another. 100% do not recommend using vinegar and water!

submitted byTaylor - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi, My wife has chemical sensitivity, but she is able to tolerate diluted white vinegar and water (typically 30% white vinegar to filtered water), which is normally very compatible with plastics and liquid seals. Can the mfr please comment specifically on what the strength of diluted white vinegar "might damage" the machine? Or is this as with many mfrs, a blanket statement meant primarily to discourage use of alternatives to Bissel's cleaning agent? Also, if diluted white vinegar is known *in fact* to be damaging, what about a mild odorless surfactant to avoid health risks associated with most scented cleaning formulas. Thanks in advance!

Q: Can other cleaning solutions be used in the water tank? Is this safe for laminate flooring?

submitted by MomTerryLady - 8 years ago
  • A: I am sure you could however I would use only use Bissell cleaning solution as other cleaners may be too bubbly or may damage flooring. It works on laminate as it leaves very little water.

submitted byKnowItAll - 7 years ago
  • A: Good question! This machine is safe for use on laminate flooring however we only recommend using BISSELL cleaning formulas in this machine.

Q: Is it made in the USA?

submitted by rupert - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi Rupert. Thanks for asking! BISSELL is an international company so we manufacture, sell, and service our products in many countries. We currently manufacture in the US, Mexico, China, Malaysia, and Vietnam. Our headquarters is located in Grand Rapids, MI.

Q: I know this is safe to use on my luxury vinyl planks... but does the solution leave a residue on luxury vinyl after repeated use? I'm eager to give up my mop, but I'm hesitant to give up vinegar.

submitted by Matriarchofnerds - 3 years ago
  • A: When used as directed, you shouldn't have residue left on your floors.

  • A: I'm the original question asker, and I decided to believe Bissell and buy one of these nifty machines. I have now used it 3 times on 1500 sq ft of luxury vinyl. My goodness, the Bissell cleaning solution cleans better than vinegar! No residue at all! Thank you, Bissell, for finally making a mopping solution that works on luxury vinyl! I'm impressed!

submitted byMatriarchofnerds - 3 years ago

Q: Hi, Does the solution/water come out hot?

submitted by littlemeangreene - 5 years ago
  • A: We recommend using warm water and BISSELL CrossWave formula in the machine. It does not have a heater built-in and using too hot of water can damage the machine.

Q: Which on this crosswave has better power suction.

submitted by mcerra30 - 5 years ago
  • A: All of the CrossWave machines have great suction power!

submitted byAskBISSELL - 5 years ago

  • A: Steer clear of the cordless model. I am on my 3rd one and It recently quit working! I never use them on carpet. Only on my tile. After a few uses it they no longer charged on the base. It leaves wet streaks everywhere and does not have good suction. The corded version is very good and has good suction.

submitted byNeelie - 3 years ago

Q: Can you use this on peel and stick vinyl flooring?

submitted by Britth929 - 7 years ago
  • A: Yes it is, Britth - this cleaner is safe for use on hard floors including vinyl.

submitted byAskBISSELL - 6 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: I don't see why not as it does a great job sucking up the solution so the floor is extremely dry. Much better than just mopping or swifter.

submitted byKnowItAll - 7 years ago

Q: I normally use unscented cleaning solutions - is your solution heavily scented? Any options?

submitted by idiopath - 7 years ago
  • A: No, I find it to be extremely subtle to not noticable. Certainly less than some method floor cleaners, mr clean, and pine sol.

submitted byKnowItAll - 7 years ago
  • A: Hi idiopath - there is a scent with our cleaning formulas. When using the CrossWave, we only recommend using BISSELL formulas as other chemicals or cleaners could affect the spray.

Q: how does it work on Vinyl Plank flooring?

submitted by Flea - 7 years ago
  • A: I don't see why not as it does a great job sucking up excess solution so the floor drys extremely quickly.

submitted byKnowItAll - 7 years ago
  • A: Very well! This machine is designed for use on hard floors including vinyl planks.

I have had the Bissell cross wave multi hydro steam for about 3 weeks. I have owned 3 Bissell floor cleaners. I broke away from Bissell and bought the Shark cleaner after experiencing a short term use with the 2 prior ones I had. It seemed like a year was about what I was getting out of them. After the Shark cleaner went on due most likely misuse. I went to Target looking for another solution. I saw that the Bissell hydro steam all in one was on sale and it advertised it was heavy duty made for pets too. So I gave it a shot and bought it. My first impression was how heavy it is in comparison to the others. But it is made to get close to walls without leaving too big of a gap like the others so that was a plus! My first disappointment was when I realized I needed to purchase a separate brush for cleaning area rugs which is a big must for me having hard floors throughout and many area rugs. So I proceeded to order it at about $18 the cost. Honestly had I known I would need a different brush for rugs I would not have purchased it even if it was on sale. Even more disappointing than the separate brush was it won’t clean all area rugs. It’s very temperamental and it only cleans rugs depending on its thickness or fibers. Even my thinner kitchen rugs it won’t clean it gets stuck and my one of my runners which is just the average thickness it also gets stuck. So big thumbs down 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 I have to also add that it quickly accumulates hair and dirt on the brush cover and will not clean so I have to stop and clean it out a few times. That is a first experience since using these floor cleaners. I am amazed that if it’s made for pet hair and I don’t have a pet. It can’t handle average cleaning! I am planning on returning it if I can. I did buy an extended protection plan so hopefully I will take it back and buy another shark.

It clogs no matter how little I vacuum or what I vacuum. The rug could just have dust and pet fur, and it clogs before I finish vacuuming a single rug.

I love EVERYTHING about it. People who don't and side pics of all the dirt, it's because your house is Dirty. You have to clean it out of the machine. Come on now, we all know this. I've had mine for years now, and Love Love Love it. Clean it out when you're finished and store it away. The floors feel good to bare feet and it's good on carpet. Any stain, even cat vomit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I saw the Bissel Crosswave mentioned in a cleaning group as the "holy grail" of floor cleaners so I decided to give it a try. I am not disappointed! It vacuums and mops at the same time and does a great job! My floors look better than they ever have in a fraction of the time. I initially bought one as a gift for my son, but was so impressed I bought another for myself :)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this because it takes me several hours to vacuum and wash all of my floors. I use this now for hardwood, slate and porcelain floors- I have even tried it on low profiles carpets. Excellent performance- easy to clean - lightweight makes vacuuming and washing 7000 square feet of floors much faster. It can handle some large particulate- suction is excellent. Particularly good for bathroom floors. Allows me to clean the floors often and easily. Only downside is that the container fills up quickly but that's minor compared to the benefits.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm hoping to change my review as I'm expecting a replacement soon. The crosswave that I received unfortunately burned up immediately upon first usage. The burnt plastic smell ran us out of the house. The vacuum quit suctioning pretty soon after the burnt smell started. I'm hoping that this is just a fluke but I'm troubled to learn that multiple other models have been recalled due to this same issue.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent cleaner! It replaced my vacuum and a mop and bucket. It is easy to maneuver around and under things. It cleans really well and vacuumed and washed at the same time!! The best part just like any other Bissell products that I own, is that it is so easy to take apart and clean all of the parts!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have hardwood floors with low area rugs and it worked out great! I do wish there was a way to separate the liquid from the hair/dirt. Just makes it a little gross dumping the hair into the trash before emptying the liquid. It worked great transitioning between the area rug and the hardwood.

It’s a decent mop. The person who said it spills out dirty water, it does do that if you’re not emptying out the dirty water tank. If it gets full, it’s gonna spill out the dirty water. It is kinda heavy and annoying to move around, it doesn’t get the edges of the wall or the corners. If you have food stuck on the floor this vacuum won’t get it, either a mop or using a rag will have to get the food scraped off the floor. The cleaning cycle does absolutely nothing. I wash my vacuum in the sink. I put the bottom in the sink, take off the cap for the brush, take out the brush, the dirty water tank (and empty it out) then scrub everything (even under the vacuum that comes in contact with the floor) you don’t have to do this everyday I do it every other day. I do suggest emptying out that dirty water tank after every use even if it doesn’t hit the fill line or your house will STINK. Also, i have a rug and the rug setting on this vacuum is really strong (it’s starts sucking up my rug and moves it. I like this because my rug comes out super clean) But, I honestly suggest getting a regular vacuum and then using a sturdy mop or get a good carpet cleaner vacuum if you have carpet. It’s a good vacuum if you need a quick clean or don’t have kids or pets.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first time I used it, it worked alright. Although it took a long time to get anything wet. Now, after about the third time using it, it will work for about 10 minutes. Then, it starts emitting puddles of filthy water. I do better just pouring the diluted soap and mopping up with swiffer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just received my Crosswave All in One yesterday and was anxious to try it. It is certainly easy to use and since I just switched from all carpet to all floors, that's extremely important. I think it will take a couple of tries to get really good with it. I did notice that it doesn't get all the way to the baseboards, I expected that, but that is easily handled with a quick Swiffer around the perimeter. BUT it is noisy. I didn't expect that. That is the reason for the missing star. Overall, I would buy it again as I feel it was a good value.
