Q: Is this safe for birds? Does it have non stick coating?

A: For all of you who think those answers are "cute" ... the reason for the question is that non-stick coatings, when heated, can create fumes which are deadly to birds. That said, ceramic heaters, because they lack the metal coils, do not have that type of coating.

A: Per the owners manual, you should never use an extension cord with the heater.

A: This unit is meant for suplimental heat as all portble heaters are. This is not meant as a some supply of heat. But can certainly be uses in a moderate sized room
submitted byDavd E - 2 years agoA: If you read the description attached to this unit you will find that it states it will heat a 300-500 sqft room. To determine, multiply the rooms width times length ie 12x12 room would be 144 sqft.

Q: Just bought this, why does it blow both hot & cold on on setting I? And why doesnt it ever shut off? It did on day 1, today is day 2 and it just keeps going without rest.

A: It doesn't shut off because it is turned on. To shut it off, turn it off. It runs constantly because it is not thermostat controlled which means it doesn't know to shut off so you have to shut it off

The fan quit working after 5 months. Black and Decker has a 1 year warranty on it. They said they would send a new one to me. But it's been over 3 months and a new one hasn't ever come. I've contacted them several times. They do not respond by phone or email.

Lasted 7 months with limited use at my cubical workplace. Started making a loud squeeling noise when turned on. I'm sure there are cheaper heaters with a longer lifespan.

I purchased 4 of these for an office, where half of the office has big beautiful floor to ceiling windows and the other half has bi windows at all. With the rise in temperature the AC is set to a level where the half with windows is comfortably cool, but the rest of us are frozen out. These things are very powerful and heat up fairly quickly. So far , so good.
