Q: Hi, does this purifier use a true hepa filter?

submitted by Yosemiteguy11 - 2 years ago
  • A: Blueair's HEPASilent™ and HEPASilent Ultra technologies use a combination of mechanical and electrostatic filtration to capture and remove harmful particles from indoor air; our technology is designed to specifically and strategically electrostatically charge particles at a very low current. This makes the particles adhere to the polypropylene fibers in the filter more easily due to electrostatic forces, which allows the use of a less dense filter, so more air can be pushed through with less noise and less energy.

Q: Is there a power cord and if so, the length? If run by battery, what kind?

submitted by Maria - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Maria, the power cord for the 411 Auto is approximately 30 inches long. Our purifiers cannot be battery operated and do need to be plugged into a wall outlet to work.

Q: How do you know when it is time to change the filter?

submitted by Court - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi there! After 5 months of continual use, your filter light will turn yellow. This indicates that it will be time for your filter change in one month and it is time to order a new filter. After 6 months of continual use, your filter light will then turn from yellow to red, indicating it is officially time to change the filter. After replacing the filter, turn on the unit and press and hold the main button for 10-45 seconds until the light goes back to white. This will complete your filter timer reset.

Q: Does this release phthalates into the air? Does it filter VOCs?

submitted by Pt4567 - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi there, Blueair purifiers do not release phthalates into the air. Our models with the highest removal of VOC and odors are the HealthProtect family (which feature a SmartFilter that has activated coconut carbon directly infused into the weaves), Classic 80i family (which come standard with DualProtection filters), Pro family (when upgraded with the Carbon + filter add-on or SmokeStop filters), and the Blue Pure 121 (when upgraded with the Extra Protection Particle + Carbon filter).

Q: Does this have ozone in it?

submitted by mommybyhisgrace - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi there, Blueair has conducted ongoing independent testing to ensure our air purifiers do not release harmful levels of ozone. All Blueair air purifiers are tested in accordance with UL Standard 867, demonstrating ozone emission levels far below the mandated California Air Resource Board (CARB) ozone emissions limit of less than 50 parts per billion (ppb). All Blueair air purifiers are CARB certified.

I purchased this air filter for months ago. It does an amazing job even with a house full of animals and teenagers. It’s easy to set up and easy to use. The outside filter washes well. I do suggest ordering an extra washable filter. One to use while the other one is washing. The machine itself is a little noisy. This could be because we placed our machine in a room larger than the suggested rating. .

Love it! It is a little loud but I live in NYC and the sound just helps me sleep tbh. It cools down my room, and I’m not longer waking up congested or with a cough. I bought the pink sleeve thing and it’s so cute. Totally matches my vibe and room.

Its working great. Very quite. I have it near two litter boxes. When I clean the litter boxes, the light goes from blue to red and within a few minutes its back to blue. That’s when I know it’s working. I plan on buying two more, one for my spare bedroom and another for my office.

Blueair are the best of the best. I did extensive research and comparison of other products before purchasing any air purifiers for our home, and this is now the second one I have purchased. They are excellent, we have this one inside an upstairs bedroom and a larger 211+ auto downstairs. My daughter has bad allergies (confirmed via blood testing) and we cannot be without these. They’ve helped tremendously. In response to some negative reviews, try READING the directions and educating yourself. Purifiers are NOT a substitute for dusting or cleaning, and they are not meant to remove dust and surface dirt for you. You still have to your house!

Accidentally beta tested this by lighting a match for a candle in my bedroom, not directly in front of the filter but it caught wind of it (no pun intended) and the air quality indicator changed from “good” to “average”. My only critique would be that the first two settings (auto & low) are very low fan, but the high setting sounds like a lawnmower. I wish there was another setting in between that had a more moderate air flow without being overpowering. Honestly though, it’s doing the job regardless

Quiet and efficient! It keeps the air clean in our room. It will turn red and kick into high mode if there is any extra dust. It did this after we did some work on our floors and we knew it was working great.

Waste of money, does NOT filter the air or dust

1 out of 5 stars
CustomerCoveredInDust - 7 months ago
originally posted on blueair.com
Purchased over a year ago. This air filter is in a very small bedroom with very little activity (very little walking) and yet there's dust all over everything all the time. I clean the external filter cover whenever it gets dusty, vacuum twice a week and this air filter is doing nothing to collect the dust in the air, as is its sole purpose. Purchased a new internal filter and wiped off any internal dust and still, not doing anything to collect the dust and filter the air. Awful product and a waste of money. 1/5 stars only because I can't give it a 0.
