I found this CD and could not believe my eyes! This entertainer was one of my all time favorites, and has not been alive since the 1970's... This is new CD is one I have never seen before. I had to buy it, so glad that I did! This is a surprising look at the direction that Bobby Darin was starting to take at the time of his death. I was impressed to see his great versions of songs like, I Walk The Line, I Don't Know How to Love Her, and others. There were also some great finds I haven't heard before like the title track, Go Ahead and Back Up and the song Cindy in which I heard Smokey Robinson too! The liner notes are just great and the photos are wonderful too. I would recommend purchasing this CD, if for no other reason than to see yet another direction that Mr. Darin was planning on taking in his too short, but wonderful career. A GREAT FIND, to say the least...please enjoy this if you are a fan and curious about Darin's plans for his future, if he'd lived.
Wow! A new Bobby Darin release of never before released music! What a treasure! Gives our great idea of where Bobby was headed before his untimely death. Really enjoyed the album, hope they release more of his music!
Absolutely love this new release by the late, great Bobby Darin. The sound quality is amazing and the liner notes are the most complete I have ever seen. These tracks were found in the vaults at Motown, and lovingly remastered. The tracks range from what you would expect at Motown in the early 70's to country to standards and Darin put his special spin on every one of them. Smokey Robinson even appears on one track - for the story behind that you will have to buy the CD and read the liner notes. Many of these songs were intended for release as an album by Darin before his death in 1973 but for whatever reason never saw the light of day until now. Go Ahead and Back Up has new material as well as familiar tunes. Buy it - you will like it, too!
