Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

Nice board shorts for water play

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recycled polyester material. Elastic waist band with drawstring makes it a versatile fit in XS 4-5 for Yun. He is almost 4 and wears 4t mostly (38” 37 lbs). He likes the side pockets and the back one. Color is cool but blends in with water so good for splash pad not quite swimming. Plus it’s the stiff boardshort outer.

Boy’s palm tree printed swim trunk

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got these swim trunks for my 10 year old who is tall and thin. He is wearing a size 8 and he likes the fit of them. They pull a little across the hips but he says they are comfortable. He likes the mesh style liner and the length of them. I like the pops of color for safety and style. The pockets and functional drawstring are nice as well.

Good quality swim trunks

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These palm tree swim bottoms from Cat and Jack are good quality, well made, and good for all of your summer water activities. My 5 year old is wearing an extra small and it fits true to size. It's a little tight in the waist but I think my son Just needs to size up in general. Has pockets and the mesh on the inside.

Boys palm tree swimsuit.

Cat and jack always have great prices and it makes it so affordable to do fun swim wear for my son. He is typically in a size large for pants right now, these in the size large fit him great with a little extra room for comfort. The elastic waistband with drawstrings is perfect if needed to be adjusted.

Fun palm tree swimtrunks

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got these cat and Jack palm tree printed swim trunks for my son for the summer. These bright royal blue swim trunks have these fun printed palm trees on them in a lighter blue and pink. It’s nice and bright! My son is about 4’5” and about 67 pounds. The size 8 swim trunks fit him really well and they have a mesh lining.
