I'm very happy with this razor. I had tried electrics several times over the years, but never had any luck with them. Although I tried them both wet and dry, with preshave lotions and without, etc., I found that they irritated my skin and I couldn't find any way to make them work as well as a manual razor. At this point in my life (70 years old, diabetic, with neuropathy starting to come on in my hands, plus carpal tunnel making its presence known), I needed to try something for a future that was coming too fast. So, I went back to shaving with a double-edged razor and started using brush lather (the new brush soaps are great!). That worked pretty well, but the carpal tunnel would get in the way some days. So, I went out and researched electric shavers. The Braun series 9 seemed to be the most attractive one out there. So, I bit the bullet and bought one. I am so very happy with it. I still use the brush soaps for lather (load up the brush with soap in the dish, but produce the lather on the face -- videos on YouTube!), but shave with the Braun 9. Up and down first, then relather and go left-right. I get a very close shave with next to no irritation. I then shower and use a little Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion on my face -- it is very soothing and stops any irritation dead in its tracks! After the shave, I just rinse the razor under the faucet, pop the head off, and let both blade section and razor body dry for a day. I did get a little bottle of mineral oil to use once a week, as they suggest. I've been using it every other day for a couple of weeks now and I'm still on the first battery charge! Did I mention before: I'm very, very happy with this Braun Series 9 razor! Thank you, Braun!
