Q: Does the filter have to be immersed in water all the time to work? In the past, Brita filters had to be submerged in water or taken out and ran under faucet if they didn't touch water in the pitcher.

The stream filters only filter out Chlorine (Taste and Odor), Particulates, and Trichlorobenzene. I liked the pitcher until it started leaking not long after I got it. At first I though it was condensation, but as I noticed more and more water at the bottom of the refrigerator shelf, I realized it was a small crack that grew larger. It was leaking what I do like about this pitcher is that you can fill and pour, rather than having to fill, weight, then pour.

I bought this brita pitcher for three reasons. 1. It filters as you pour, so you can refill the pitcher quickly and do not have to wait for new water to filter through before it's full. 2. it came with one filter so you can use it when it arrives. 3. The 12 cup capacity. so disappointed when I opened the pitcher and surrounding packaging only to find there was NO FILTER. It probably should have been stored at the base of the squared off packaging but there was nothing there. Filters are exspensive and I should receive the filter or get a reduction in price. I will reach out to Brita but I'm not sure who is responsible, Target or Brita?
