I bought this to store my makeup in. It looks pretty and is fairly well built but has some design flaws. The case doesn't open up all the way, just to the 45 degree angle as shown, so the trays overlap giving poor visibility. I thought this wouldn't be a big deal but it tying to use it I discovered it was. The trays aren't wide enough... they don't fit a standard lipstick, so almost all of my makeup items (round cases excluded) have to be stored vertically, making the usable space less user friendly since the overlapping trays hide items from view. Also, its MUCH larger than my makeup bag but still doesn't fit everything in an organized manner. Half my makeup ended up in a pile in the large bottom compartment, and/or hidden from view by the overlapping trays, making it so I was no better off than before. The only thing I like that it has a gray liner instead of the standard black so it doesn't make it hard to see black items, like my MAC lipsticks and liners. As child of the 80's I have fond memories of my plastic caboodles so decided to give this newer gen a shot, unfortunately I ended up having to return it. Maybe its good for storing something else, but I would not recommend it for makeup.
