Q: is easy to install? J

submitted by Jan - 2 years ago
  • A: It depends. From what I can tell with other reviews, if you have a WPS button on your printer, the wireless connection is rather easy. I do not have a WPS button on my router, and wifi connection was almost impossible (and I work in tech). There are quite a few setup steps generally - installing the cartridges and ink. Not too hard, but the instructions aren't great. This was more painful than other printers I have setup. If you don't have a WPS button on your router, you'll need instructions that don't come with your manual. You will have to do the manual wifi setup: https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART179290&act=RATE&impressions=false&isCCA=true&newguid=e0b37f48b973475680fa7782c4a41ffe And, the link in the instructions for the computer setup software does not give you the right version. DON'T GO TO THE LINK IN THE MANUAL. Instead Google search for canon ij setup. Then choose Canon Official Manuals: Welcome! and choose the right printer version. If you download the setup software for G3000 it will not work. The buttons on the printer are different and the instructions won't make sense. You need the setup for G3060 not G3000. If you choose G3260 from the Official Manuals Welcome screen, you shouldn't have any issues. Overall, the setup on this was really painful in my opinion. But, once you get it setup, I like it and my last printer went through ink like crazy. This one prints forever. Canon definitely needs to invest more in UX.

Not pleased with this printer - unreliable Wi-Fi

Continuously unavailable to the network, this printer requires way too much attention to re-establishing e network connection that it becomes impossible to recommend it. It really is not truly AirPrint compatible as it requires an app from Canon on iOS devices. Be warned. This printer is not worth the low price point.

Worked well for about 16 months with very light use, then wouldn't turn on; tech support wasn't difficult to reach on the phone and diagnosed an irreparable mother board failure. Canon offered a "discount" price for a replacement that is about $20 more than online price everywhere--no thanks. Other brands all have about the same number of unhappy customers for all of the usual issues: wifi dropouts, paper jams, buggy software, etc. so my main selection criteria for a replacement became the two-year warranty that most other printers offer and a seller that takes good care of its customers.

Overall, its not bad. I love that the ink cartridges had 1 years supply in the box and the bottles were huge! It also feels well built and its not heavy at all. The black/color print quality is average - it gets the job done and its legible. Havent tried a photo yet, but other reviews and youtubers said they come out super HD and vivid. What i didnt like was the 2-sided printing is manual. It prints out one side, then the machine instructs you to flip the pages over and put it back in the feeder for the other side. Thats a little annoying as I thought it was automatic, but its for home use and random printing so its not a huge dealbreaker. This double-sided feature is only available on my windows work laptop.. Not available for Mac and idk why.. So that was a bummer. I also thought the screen was very difficult to read without a light right above you. Setting up wifi on this thing was a pain but im glad its wireless and apple airprint compatible so it was a small price to pay one time cuz im not going to mess with it again and i was able to turn off the 'eco-shut off' mode. lol. I wouldve preferred a page drawer and a double sided document scanner on the top, but the other Canon models were out of my budget for that or had negative reviews. Granted: this thing was about $200 in store and it was still kinda pricy, considering the essential features it was missing... Needless to say, if im searching for a new printer later, ill try to keep the features closer to my expectations, but for now, its def not a bad option and it may work for my home for a few years.

So far so good. This is my second purchase of the same model (one for home and the other for work). I'm a teacher and need a reliable printer, that holds a lot of ink, and prints on cardstock. The printing quality is sharp and even prints on very thick cardstock. The only negative is the display is dark and quite small, but other than that I highly recommend this printer.

THIS THING DOES NOT HAVE AN ETHERNET PORT!

1 out of 5 stars
NLWPSMS - 1 year ago, Verified purchaser
I ordered this thing as a drive up order so I was dismayed to discover that the web advertising didn't match the box advertising. An Ethernet port is not mentioned anywhere on the box so I went to the Canon web site and confirmed that this thing doesn't have one. I have no way to connect to it without one so I didn't even open it before hauling it back to my local store. Returning it was painless at least.

I wanted to love this printer. Looks nice, eco-friendly, etc., but the printer has been nothing but problems since day one. I literally only need it to print in black and white and it can't even do that. It prints green (even after all the maintenance and cleaning checks) and when it does attempt to print in black, it's more of dark brown. Canon support is nonexistent. The fact that I had to call them on the first day I bought it should have told me what I needed to know about the quality. When I did have someone on the phone, they walked through a script but really didn't have any idea how to fix it. Would love to just suggest another Canon printer, but, at this point, would suggest another brand altogether.

The printer works wells and the installation is easy to understand. The printer stopped working after a month of use. I printed a couple of items on card stock which I was told was the problem. For simple use, this printer should be okay but I’d suggest another printer for different craft and diy items.

All of my previous Canon PIXMA printers were top notch, I can't believe how bad this one has been: 1 - Doesn't stay connected to wifi. So many issues connecting to this wirelessly that it has now become unusable a few months later. I can't connect it to my smartphone at all anymore like all the other printers could, I have to unplug & restart the printer every time I want to print from any computer no matter how many times I reset everything and go through all the steps for getting it to connect. Previous models allow you to "wake up" the printer from your laptop/smartphone, and this one did that once or twice before failing miserably. No amount of re-installing drivers, reconnecting, etc., etc... It's just not functional. It doesn't work. 2 - The "duplex" printing is manual. I admit it does indeed say this in the smaller text technical details, that was my bad for assuming a $200 printer that says duplex printing would be automatic, especially when so many of the rest of the PIXMA line are automatic. But heads up to anyone else considering this model. Just don't. Get any other Canon printer. Please save yourself the pain. Previous Canon PIXMA printers have been great, long lasting, good price for ink, user friendly, even survived multiple moves and supported printing needs for an English teacher for years. I have been recommending Canon to people for years, especially the PIXMA lines. I don't know what happened with this model. Do not buy.

Seems to be okay. What I do not like about this unit, the lack of detailed user instructions both included and on line, The information screen is fixed and can not be raised, printing is slow when the information is coming off the computer. I have made my adjustment to these issues with the unit.
