I got this in black very nice looking for the price, was packaged very well no damage at all. I gave it four stars because when you get to the decorative trim the screws are a bit too long and they poked through the trim husband just had to back the screws out a little so that they don’t poke through, other than that we are very pleased with this piece
IF you get this piece at clearance price, then yes it may be almost worth it. Do not even think about paying full price or even sale price for it...I had to re-do the decorative edging twice, since the 3 pieces it connects to weren't lining up flush. I am very handy and I was able to hold in the piece so there was no longer a gap and get the screws in slightly angled to hold it in the right way.
THE BIGGEST problem is the holes for the shelf brackets were drilled wrong. 3 out of 4 of the holes for the two shelves were all at similar height. On both sides, one of the front holes for the shelf support was almost a full half inch lower than the others. I had to pull out my drill and large bit and put in two new holes myself.
I would have returned it if the piece didn't coordinate with my end tables and bookshelf
Frustrating assembly. First, the side panels on the left didn't fit completely flush. Second, instructions did not contain much in the way of useful text information, and in at least one place were plain wrong. (Said was a flat head screw, when the one supplied was, in fact, a phillips head screw.) The trim pieces didn't indicate which side should face the top edge. A simple arrow would have worked. I ended up installing the trim pieces wrong, which meant the top would not fit correctly and cams didn't lock. I ended up taking off the trim, installing the top, and installing the trim after (in reverse order of instructions.) Eventually it all came together, but it wasn't a happy experience. It would be helpful if: A. pieces were all labeled for top/bottom, B. There was more explanatory text, or at least a link to a You Tube video, and C: It came with an estimate of average assembly time. It put it together as one person over two days with frequent breaks for frustration.
On the plus side, it looks nice, and fits the space well. I did appreciate the assembly packaging - parts for each step come in their own sequestered bubble. Probably would have been easier with two people as well, especially if one is handy.
I ordered two bookshelves from this collection last year and love them so much that when we needed a TV stand for another room, this was my first pick. My husband said the assembly was very easy and it looks great in our family room. Taking into account the price and the fact that it's flat pack furniture, I feel like the construction is really solid & I'm very happy with the purchase.
