about this item

In the tile-laying game Castles of Mad King Ludwig, players are tasked with building an amazing, extravagant castle for King Ludwig II of Bavaria...one room at a time. You see, the King loves castles, having built Neuschwanstein (the castle that inspired the Disney theme park castles) and others, but now he's commissioned you to build the biggest, best castle ever — subject, of course, to his ever-changing whims. Each player acts as a building contractor who is adding rooms to the castle he's building while also selling his services to other players.

This game is so much fun! It seems complicated at first, but is actually pretty straightforward. I really like it because there is some luck involved, but it's mostly strategy.see moreof the reviewer's review

My family loves this game. There's some strategy and building aspect as well as bonuses and it's really anybody's game until the very end. My husband especially likes that it has a one player versi, so he can even play by himself.see moreof the reviewer's review

This is a fabulously fun and creative board game that plays just as well with 2 as with 3 or 4 players--a rare find. We play it as a couple, or with friends or our kids (ages 7 and 10) and everyone loves to play (OK, it's true the kids have yet to actually win a game, but they're catching on to the ...see moreof the reviewer's review
