Catventure Novelty Cat Scratcher - Almond - 19.5" - Boots & Barkley™

I bought this on clearance at my local Target, and now I know why! The instructions are ambiguous and unclear. It took me 2 hours to put it together, and by the end of it, I needed a drink!!

Super hard to put together and instructions suck.

This is the most ridiculous design I have ever seen. There is no reason for the top and back to be 1 piece. There is noneasy way to get your hand inside to help put the top together, the side windows are small, the back gets in the way. If you have any problems with your hands, arthritis etc your hand will hurt after assembly. If you can even get it assembled that is. Took me 1.5 hours to figure it out. Please bring back the old design with the normal tabs and circle tapes. Those take 10 minutes to do. 0/10 i do not recommend.

HARD AND ANNOYING TO ASSEMBLE. instructions BEYOND vague and unhelpful. i would rather pay someone twice the price to assemble it.

Great toy for our cat. It was a "present" for our cat on Christmas day. She played in there quite a bit. We didn't have any problems putting it together. It looks great!

Very hard to assemble & not very sturdy.

This is impossible to get together and I ripped it to shreds trying to get it together. I’ve bought from this brand and never had an issue, but this is designed poorly and the instructions offer no help.

Impossible to assemble without damaging. Will be returning

I have purchased 12-20 of these for the cats, this one was the hardest one to get together! Took a good 30 min and made me want to throw it! Lol Now that it’s together they love it

Whoever designed this cat scratcher needs to be fired. I’m usually very good at building and following instructions but I would have done a better job building an IKEA dresser blindfolded than do this. Way too many folds and bends in the truck design and ripped more than a couple parts of it. Worst cat scratcher I’ve bought from this line.

My friend bought this and asked me to put it together. I’ve assembled many 2 level cat scratchers from Target but this one had the WORST directions ever!! It took me a very long time to finally get it put together. I added duct tape inside for extra strength on the joints. Very cute and the cats loved it and fortunately weren’t bothered by my cursing at the directions. Will probably buy another one now that I figured out how to construct it.

3 stars averaged between 5 for sturdiness & design, 0 for difficulty. Very cute when complete but shockingly complex to assemble. It took 45 minutes. The front end multi-folds with tabs on both sides were insane. The tray top was interesting but tricky to construct. The main improvement is that the awning tabs are less likely to break off. I've assembled many different models and the only scratcher more challenging than this one was the rocket ship, which could have doubled as a torture method.

The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the assembly was a little difficult. But we were able to figure it out & my cats just love it ! It’s sturdy and cute. I actually would recommend this

Seriously, the assembly on this is incredibly difficult for no reason. It’s like they wanted it to be a pain to assemble. And after you’re done, you get rewarded with a two tier cat scratcher that is significantly worse than their other models in every way!

The assembly is as dreadful. I miss the old boots and Barkley two level scratchers that were a great value, cute and easy. This was horrible- directions were awful (and i have assembled a double level cat scratcher once a month for about three years and it was STILL horrible), the quality was poor (ripped a bunch of times from the ignorant construction). Ended up throwing the entire thing away. Bring back the old cute easy boots and Barkley double level scratchers.

It took a bit to put together but once you figure it out it’s not that bad. But it’s sturdy and my cats love it. They jump on top of it, sleep in it, scratch it all the time and haven’t had any issues.

The directions were very unclear. Putting it together was a HASSLE. It ripped in at least 8 different places

I've been buying these double-decker scratchers for years, and the thickness of the cardboard got thinner with the last design, and those cross-bar supports just did not hold up. I wound up reinforcing with wood until it was time to replace the whole thing. I was dubious to come back to the double-decker design again, but I'm glad I did. Yes, this was obnoxious to assemble, and I questioned the structural integrity as I was assembling the scratcher. The end result, however, was worth it not only did they return the bottom of the scratch pad trays to catch the catnip sprinkled on top, but it is structurally sturdier than previous designs. I'm going to buy a backup for when this one needs to retire...someday. One star removed for assembly difficulty, but a solid four stars for the end product.

I would have rather lit a 20 dollar bill on fire, no support beams like in prior ones and no tape side either, if you think it couldn't get any worse than that, this thing took me over 30 minutes to put together, absolute garbage. I am utterly disgusted by this

Could not get it to assemble correctly and enlisted my husband who’s an engineer to get it assembled. He couldn’t either. So now it’s assembled wrong and taped. Then comes the fact it says it’s a cat scratcher but contains no scratching surface. Weird.
