Q: does the block have a sharpener built inside for each knife

A: There is a separate sharpener to use for all knives. There is not one built in to each slot

One year later: Hand wash / dry only. Never left in water. Suspect the block is the culprit (somehow).

I have owned this set for 7 years. I do all of the cooking in our house and they’ve been tested to the limit, from deboning deer to general cutting and chopping. I would highly recommend them to any and everyone looking for a great set of knives. They stay very sharp and because of the one piece construction are very easy to clean.

I just ordered and received the set a week or so ago, so I can’t speak to longevity at this point. The knife set looks great, is good quality, and a great value. They were sharp, but not as sharp as I expected. We wash and dry them right away to avoid rust and water spots.

I love this set. Keep in mind that this is the first knifes set that I’ve purchased so I don’t have much to compare it with. I will say this, they cut very well & are very sharp.
