About this item
The call for papers for a July 2012 ancient warfare conference at the University of Auckland was deliberately vague, and as organizers hoped, netted a wide range of topics and perspectives. The 13 papers in this collection demonstrate the various ways in which ancient warfare is currently being used in ancient world studies, and offer specific case studies and insights into various aspects of both ancient warfare and ancient societies more generally. They cover military narratives, the economics of warfare, military cohesion, military authority, irregular warfare, and fortifications and sieges.
