Don't try to power through your cold sore — treat it with up & up™ Cold Sore Treatment. So I tried this because I didn’t want to spend 20 bucks on a Abreva. I applied it last Sunday (7 hours AFTER I discovered the already developed bump on my lip) and as of this Sunday it is completely gone. I’ve never had a cold sore go away this quick. Also, my cold sore didn’t get “bad” while using this. You could barely see it. I’m so glad I gave it a shot. Definitely recommend over abreva!
I have always been a die-hard Abreva fan. It always worked for me and greatly reduced the healing time of the cold sore. This stuff is 100% better than Abreva, and only half the cost. I purchased this because I noticed three blisters on my lip after a bout with the flu and strep throat, and Target was out of Abreva. I started treatment the day after I noticed the blisters on my lip and even then, my lip completely healed in FIVE DAYS! The cold sores never even went to the "everyone is staring at my lip" phase; no one at work even noticed (I asked.) I didn't find the product to be gritty at all, and an added bonus is it goes on clear instead of leaving a white residue like Abreva. Another bonus is this product didn't dry out the area on my lip around the cold sores, something Abreva always does. There is little to no numbing agent with this product, but that's fine with me. Others may not be so OK with that, though. The amount in the tube is massive, considering how small of an amount is needed. I'm sure this will expire before it's gone. Overall I won't purchase Abreva again!
If Abreva works for you, this won't and vice a versa. I've tried them all for years (over 40 years actually.) Today's best bets are either Abreva (Docosonal 10%) or Benzalonium Chloride 0.13%. Abreva doesn't work for me; it actually seems to make my outbreak worse and last longer. However, Benzalonium Chloride 0.13%, when applied at the first tingling, stops my outbreak in it's tracks. My cousin swears by Abreva but I've tried it three times, over the last few years, and nada. When you read the reviews you'll see...the folks that bomb this product were looking at this as a cheap alternative to Abreva but hate this product. The reason is Docosonal worked for them.
You can't beat it for the price. My cold sore was painful and this instantly soothed it. Lesion of it also went away within three days or so. It doesn't get five stars because it does have a little bit of a gritty texture and the smell isn't stellar. (Think of Gold Bond's Medicated Powder). However. When Abreva comes out to $150-$230/oz, you can't beat this.
Not the same medicine as Abreva. While I start to get results from Abreva almost immediately (pain decrease, swelling halts), I can't see that I get either short- or long-term efficacy with this product. And why why why put camphor in something that is used under your nose?? Also had a grainy texture that was hard to rub in, like maybe it was stored at the wrong temperature. Usually Target brands are a good alternative. This product is not an example of that.
Do not buy I thought it was supposed to heal it and not help it spread I used on Saturday I woke up sunday it got worse yea it stopped the itching but it acted like a fertilizer tho I dont think that's supposed to happen
