"expandable" stuff sack and strange tie disaster

Nice sleeping bag. Good design and sizing. Soft fabric. Love the sleeping bag zipper and tiny inner secure pocket. HORRIBLE bag tie system. You use a loop system, then string a random string through that has a plastic hook on one end, then hook the hook to the string to secure. Impossible to do it tightly, think I'll buy a seperate strap or string that can bind the bag tightly after rolling. Big problem- the stuff sack has a label attached running top to bottom. Directions say to "rip at seam" to remove and expand stuff sack. The sack began ripping apart as I tried to put the sleeping bag back in. So I exchanged the sleeping bag- brought it home- and immediately very carefully with kid scissors, tried cutting off this label that allows the stuff sack to "expand" in an effort to prevent the sack ripping again. Even with my slow careful efforts- I've now cut open the stuff sack!! So frustrating. Stupid design/packaging efforts that fall far short of desireable in real life. That isn't going to last long for my son. I've not even used it and already have issues....

We had a kiddo heading to sleep away camp and needed a sleeping bag. Bring in Texas, I dont forsee that we'll need one that keeps you super warm. We opted for this vs a kids sleeping bag so that the rest of the family can use it. No complaints for far. I'm not sure if the kid had help getting it back in the bag after use so I can't speak on that but I can't say there are any complaints.

When I picked it up today and got it home, it was ripped in three places. My kiddo is leaving for camp tomorrow so no time to exchange. I sewed it up clumsily — not my strongest skill — and hope it lasts.

The inside lining feels awesome, not like a typical synthetic sleeping bag. So you get the advantages of a small package, but the feel and weight of a real comforter. Very impressed since the price is quite good. Tip: if you remove the vertically stitched label on the outside of the stuff sack, it will increase the diameter allowing for easier packing.
