Our Hippo Movable Action Figure This hippo is made of hard plastic and has movable parts so you can move the head, legs, and tail to put the hippo into different positions. This can be fun for play or in an African diorama. For younger kids, be aware tthat the pieces can possibly come apart, and may or may not snap back together. The joints are meant to move the toy hippo into different positions rather than to snap apart. Because snapping them apart results in small, loose pieces, this toy is not recommended for very small children. It is great for school projects, dioramas, as a toy for older kids, or grown-ups, party favors, collectibles, etc. It measures 3 1/2 inches from nose to tail. The name comes from the ancient Greek for "river horse". After the elephant and rhinoceros, the common hippopotamus is the third-largest type of land mammal and the heaviest extant artiodactyl. Despite their physical resemblance to pigs and other terrestrial even-toed ungulates, the closest living relatives of the Hippopotamidae are cetaceans (whales, dolphins, porpoises, etc.) from which they diverged about 55 million years ago.
