Color OopsTM Extra Strength is the safest and most effective way to reverse an undesirable hair color application in just 20 minutes! Color Oops corrects your hair color by shrinking the dye molecules, allowing you to simply wash them away. Our unique formula is bleach-free and ammonia-free; Color Oops will not have the damaging effects of bleach or ammonia based products. Color Oops Extra Strength is formulated to remove the most difficult colors and color build-up. Color Oops is so gentle that you can re-color your hair the same day.
Color Oops Extra Strength removes artificial color from hair that has become too dark. For instance: if your hair was blonde and you applied a brown color that is too dark, Color Oops can be used to get your hair back to a blonde shade. Color Oops can also be used to remove artificial color from hair that was lightened but became off-tone. For instance: if you have naturally brown hair and used an ash blonde color and your hair is now blonde with a green tint, Color Oops will remove the green tint, but your hair will remain blonde.

Q: I used color oops Mon,& it did not take all the processed color out. It left it an odd orange reddish color. Im trying to go from red to my natural blonde color. How soon can I use color oops again?
submitted by Karen - 6 years ago
A: Hi there!!! So this particular product is for lifting color not removing it. For example: my hair is blue right now, if I use this- it will bring my deep blue to a light blue because that is the base of my hair color right now. Just like the red goes orange- because it's the base color for your red hair. As far as when to use it again, I use it same day if needed.
submitted byListie - 6 years ago
A: Color Oops can be used twice in a day but we suggest to wait an additional day. When coloring hair, a mixture of artificial hair color and hydrogen peroxide (oxide/developer) are used to deposit color into the hair. At the same time it is depositing color, the hydrogen peroxide (oxide/developer) can lighten the natural pigment your hair. Therefore, even though you may be coloring darker, your natural pigment may be altered. When color Oops is applied and the artificial color is removed, what is left of your natural color will be exposed. If your natural color was altered, you will see a brassy, red or warm color. In this case, you can re-color to your desired color.

Q: I just watched the video, and if I'm understanding the directions as shown, this product requires you to rinse your hair for a total of 1 hour and 5 minutes? Surely that can't be correct.... is it??
submitted by Erin - 2 months ago
A: You wash and rinse your hair for a total of 45 minutes. It's the most important step in the whole Color Oops process.

Q: 1. Will this remove Joico's permanent black hair dye??
And is it okay to use if I have already used a different color remover twice?
submitted by Bella - 7 months ago
A: Color oops will remove it because you stated it's a permanent color. You may use it if you have already used other color removers.

Q: if I went to a salon and they dyed my hair blonde then another bright color on top so red or orange will it just remove those colors and go back to blonde ?
submitted by shay - 1 year ago
A: Color Oops will remove the colors as long as the colors are oxidative, meaning they were mixed with a developer. If the colors were not mixed with anything it makes them a direct dye so Color Oops will not remove them. If the color is removed you may be left with some brassiness since you are trying to remove red / orangey tones.

Q: I bleached my fiancé's hair 2 months ago then yesterday we dyed it back dark brown but it's too dark. if we put color oops on it will it strip it back to the prior blonde or just lighten the brown?
submitted by syd - 1 year ago
A: Color Oops will remove the color if the color was an oxidative dye. The hair should go back to blonde.

Q: I got my hair dyed a very dark brown. If I use this product.. will it make it a lighter brown?
submitted by Lindsey - 1 year ago
A: Color Oops is not a lightener it's a color remover. If the color you applied is an oxidative dye, meaning it was mixed with a developer then Color Oops will remove it.

Q: Can this be used to remove madison reed hair color?
submitted by gabby - 1 year ago
A: Color oops will remove the color as long as the color is an oxidative dye, meaning the color was mixed with developer. So if Madison Reed is an oxidative dye then Color oops will remove it.

Q: Is this safe to use on hair if I had a keratin treatment (over the hair color) 2 months ago? (I think the keratin treatment mostly washed out by now, since my hair is frizzy as ever. Can I do color oops now safely?)
submitted by S - 2 years ago
A: Yeah, don't do that. Go back to the stylist and tell them the color is too dark for you. You might have to wait a week or so depending on the keratin treatment, but they would probably be happy to fix the color for you.
submitted byDeveloplus Product Expert - 2 years ago
It took the permanent purple/brown down but not totally - it left my hair blonde wtih orangish highlights. I have naturally gray hair so that might be a factor. It did have a chemichal/rotten egg smell but it wasn't intense and it washed completely away when you follow the instructions. It does leave your hair VERY dry so make sure you get a deep conditioning mask to follow the process.

Bought this a few hours ago and it worked AMAZING. I went to the salon a few days ago hoping to dye my hair back to my natural brunette color but the color came out black. Googled what to use and this came up. Completely took the black color out and i'm back to brown. So thankful for this product!! Highly recommend

This works!!! Here are some tips. Going from dark brown to being back your blonde hair WORKS. You will need multiple boxes though. I needed 3 total and did them about 4 days apart each. After you place the plastic wrap on your hair when the solution is on, a extremely helpful tip is to wrap a towel around your head on top of the plastic to keep the heat in because this product literally will not work if the heat isn’t trapped inside. I probably could have done this with 2 boxes if I put the towel on my head during the second application. Next tip: rinse with very warm to HOT water for 30 minutes after. Seems like a long time - and it is, so I brought my phone in the shower lol. Here’s a pic of my results! I had permanent dye on my hair previously and my hair was blonde before. It brought me back to my exact color before dyeing

Do not use if you have arctic fox hair dye, this hair dye is for real permanent. I’ve had the same hair color for over a year, tried this to get it out and it got out very little color. Now my hair just feels damaged and it’s still blue. Not this products fault I don’t think.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate our customer's input. Color Oops is formulated for use on regular oxidative hair color (hair color that was mixed with peroxide, oxide or a developer). Color Oops is not formulated for, and will not perform on direct color dyes such as bright pinks, blues, greens, lavenders, purples, etc. (A direct dye hair color is not mixed prior to use.)

It did what it was supposed to do, but it made my hair so greasy. I washed it 5x times now and my hair is beyond greasy. I never experienced this much grease in my hair until after I tried this product. I am completely upset of how nasty my hair feels now.

This was a very quick and efficient way to remove hair dye that is not the desirable hair color you are hoping for! I also really love that you are able to dye your hair again with the dye of your choice within the same day instead of waiting a few days, making it perfect for those on time crunch! i highly recommend this product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to use, removed the color almost completely except for black undertones. You’ll need to do a heavy conditioner treatment after as it seemed to dry my hair a bit making it seem like it was stripped of oils making it appear frizzy. Heavy conditioner helped along with recoloring the correct shade. I’d recommend this product if the shade you’ve used isn’t what you expect. Just be aware it won’t remove all colors completely. It won’t remove bleach. Also it’s made with soy so be cautious of a soy allergy. It also has a strong chemical odor after rinsing.

I only used one bottle and that was enough to get my hair back to how it was before and im so happy it did. Definitely recommend!! :)
