Hi Jeff! Sorry to hear that there was a misunderstanding with one of our agents. Most carriers lock their devices to their service until the unlocking period has been completed. Most Target stores have an unlocked phone section - that section has phones that can be used on most service providers at any time. Unlocked phones often cost more than carrier devices because you have the flexibility to use the device with any carrier at any time. Phone not ideal for older senior

Not ideal for seniors. The volume button is right where Mom holds the phone so her ringer and talk volume are always getting reset too low. And the button is black and very tiny so it’s difficult for her to locate it snd fix the volume. Also, when the Favorites button is pressed, the phone often shows the last name called rather than Moms Favorites. So then she has to hit the CLR button. This makes it difficult for her to easily navigate favorites. For a service and phone supposed designed for seniors, I would think Consumer Cellular would offer a more senior-friendly phone. May need to look for a service with a better flip phone.

Stuck with phone that Consumer Cellular can't provide seevice for

Worked great for a few days. Four days after purchase for my elderly Uncle we moved him into a memory care unit. We cleared out his Assisted Living apartment & recycled phone box, but did save the activation code from the back of box. Could not get service in new home even after troubleshooting with Consumer Cellular customer service. They said the Verve Snap antenna was not strong enough to get service in a lower level apartment. Target won’t take the phone back without the box, so we are out the $ -after all the hassle of switching phone and provider to Consumer Cellular. Not a happy customer!

Our customer service can activate the device without the activation code by using the Phones S/N (IMEI) number - the activation code makes the process easier but it can still be activated. When it comes to signal, there are factors that could impact service. Once the phone is activated, our customer service team can reset signals and send updates. Horrible navigation. Some calls and texts do not come through. Phone freezes and will not display text and message options. Ordered sim card website said I needed but did not. Wasted $5. Customer service talks to us like we are all old and stupid. I regret moving to CC.

Have to Reboot phone repeatly

I end phone calls by either closing the flip top or by End button to end call. After various amounts of time, I open the flip top to do something on the phone or make a call - No "contact - menu - messages" across the the bottom of the screen. I attempt several time to get this to show up, but No dice. I finally have to TURN OFF the phone and then TURN ON the phone again before the missing line of menus will will appear across the bottom of the screen. This happens frequently. I have removed the battery and then reinstalled it only to have the same thing show up again. This has been going on long enough that I don't have a return warranty (30 days) and Consumer Cellular can't figure it out but because I purchased the phone at Target, they won't replace the phone. So now I am either stuck with a phone that I am constantly turning off/on to get it to work or I have to junk it. Very disappointed in the VERVE Phone.

"Flipper" phones are harder to find.......everyone & their brother wants the latest "smart" phone..........I still like flippers because 1)you can make & receive call.....works for me, ever since 1956! 2)I'm less likely to drop a flipper phone and break it (that, in fact, is what happened to the one that this is replacing. 3)I don't NEED to keep my grill glued to my device for 90% of my waking time, scared to death that I'm going to "miss something". I got my previous flipper at the same Target store, and the man behind the counter set it all up for me!

I like the Verve a lot. The buttons are a lot easier to use than on the link IIThe phone has more memory and most other ones similar to it.Very simple to use.Drawbacks I wish it had enough internet to support Wi-Fi calling. I feel that there are enough people who may want to use this phone, who could benefit from having WIFI calling asa future! I noticed that The Verve does not even have a spot to hold an email address in the contacts. My previous linkII had this. You are able to type an email address in, when you are in the text message screen. If the email address was saved in your contacts prayer to transfer to the new Verve. It does show up and allow you to select it is a recipient, when in a message screen.

I carry a flip phone for security -- its always in my pocket, always handy if I fall off a ladder, have car trouble, or need to contact someone. The button performance so far out weighs that horrible Link II phone!! Just wish number feature did not entail moving off screen to select "number" then moving back on screen -- happy to just punch button one more time. And of course Consumer Cellular contiues to provide such excellent service -- chat line personnel are always patient and knowledgeable.
