bought this for my baby but its not stable as it only has the waist buckle and its light weight
1 reply from DorelJuvenileSupport team - 29 days ago
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear the high chair feels unstable and that the waist‑only buckle made you uncomfortable — your baby’s safety and your peace of mind matter. This model is designed to be lightweight and portable, but it still meets all required safety regulations and standards for stability and restraint systems. A waist harness is compliant for this style of seat, though we understand some parents prefer a 3‑ or 5‑point harness for added security. If the chair feels wobbly or not as steady as expected, we’d really like to help troubleshoot the setup and make sure everything is assembled and locked into place correctly. Our Consumer Care Team can walk you through a quick stability check and ensure the chair is performing the way it should. Feel free to reach out to us at 1-800-544-1108.

Lightweight and Practical but Not Very Sturdy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’d give the Cosco Canteen Highchair 4 stars overall. It works well for everyday use, but it doesn’t feel very sturdy or robust. The design is simple and compact, which is great for smaller spaces. I really like the padded seat because it makes it more comfortable for my child. However, the tray is a little small, especially when trying to fit a full plate, so there isn’t much extra room. Clean-up after meals is very easy, and that’s a big plus for me. The surfaces wipe down quickly and don’t seem to trap too much food. What I like most is how lightweight it is. It’s easy to move from room to room and doesn’t take up much space. On the downside, because it’s so light, it can look and feel a bit cheap. Overall, it’s a practical and convenient option. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this High Chair.

    Great lightweight highchair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love the Cosco Canteen High Chair! One of my favorite things about it is how lightweight it is. It’s so easy to move around the house, which makes mealtime and cleanup way less of a hassle. I also really appreciate the smaller size — which was great for my petite child to feel secure and positioned upright for meal times. Cleanup is super easy, too. The surfaces wipe down quickly, and the padding washed well. The only downside was that the directions were a little vague when putting it together, so assembly took a bit of figuring out. But once it was set up, it’s been great. Overall, I’m really happy with this high chair and would definitely recommend it, especially if you’re looking for something lightweight, and easy to clean! Thankful to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this High Chair, we love it!

    Cosco High Chair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this High Chair to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. This high chair was perfect for my 9 month old. I love that the foot rest is adjustable and that her feet actually reach it (she’s a tiny gal). The tray is adjustable which is also so nice and it is so easy to clean. Another plus is her plates fit on the tray perfectly! I will say the tray was a little hard to figure out how to get off at first but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy!

    Perfect outdoor highchair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this High Chair from the Stellar Product Testing Panel and I’m so happy I did! I was in the market for a plastic, lightweight, easy-to-clean, and safe highchair that I could keep outdoors. Last summer we had to move our heavier wood highchair back and forth when we wanted to eat on the patio and I was hoping to avoid that this year. I don’t think that I would use it as her primary chair because it doesn’t feel as sturdy or able to adjust as she grows, but for this purpose, it is great! Excited to get lots of use in the warmer weather!!

Do not let the simplicity fool you

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 4.5 stars round up. I received this high chair as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel for my honest review and feedback. While the chair looks lightweight, it is a powerhouse. My husband was able to put it all together in five minutes flat with no tools needed. I love the muted gray color; it’s subtle and doesn’t scream 'baby gear' in the middle of the dining room; it actually matches nicely with my kitchen carpet! The low profile is also a major plus. I’m able to pull it right under our dining room table so it doesn't take up extra space. As a FTM who likes to extend the usage of products, I originally tried a chair that turned into a toddler table, but it was too high and lacked a footrest. This chair solved both those problems. I didn't realize how important a footrest was until using this chair. Now, my little one is able to steady herself much easier while she eats, which makes for a much calmer mealtime. Post-meal cleanup has been a breeze. There aren't a ton of crevices for food to get trapped in, so I can just spray and go. I haven't had to deep-clean the padding yet, but I imagine it’s easily washable. I also still find it easiest to just lift my child up and over the tray rather than removing it every time. Knocking 0.5 of a star as it would be nice if the footrest was adjustable. My little one's feet barely touches it. I know that she will grow into eventually, but that would make a bigger difference.

    Overall Great Product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this high chair from the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and I’m glad I did! Right when I opened it, it was nicely packaged and organized in the box. It was super easy to assemble, I didn’t even need to use the instructions. Although if needed it did come with clear instructions and pictures for assembly. This high chair was the perfect height to bring up to my dining table. I have a 9 month old that uses this highchair so it gets fairly messy but the tray is super easy to take off and wash in the sink. The highchair itself is a good size so it’s not in the way when it’s not being used. I do wish you could fold it up like my baby trend highchair so that is a con, and the size of the tray for the baby’s food could be bigger. I do like that it’s super easy to wipe down and clean, especially the padding on the seat portion. I do also find it nice that the tray has a place for her sippy cup. There are two settings for the foot rest, which I don’t mind but someone else might. I got it in gray. This is overall a great highchair!

    Perfect for messy eating

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a mom of 2 I love this high chair! My absolute favorite is that it’s ridiculously easy to clean. EVERY single part of this high chair is easy to clean which is a huge bonus when you get to the stage of food exploration. It’s also super lightweight making it easy to move around my kitchen as needed. I do have a smaller kitchen so having a chair that is most space effective was a must have for me and this chair doesn’t take up a lot of space. I also love that it has a place to put the tray in the back so it’s not in the way when not in use. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this High Chair.

    Cosco Canteen Highchair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this High Chair to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. My 2 y/o is actually too big for the high chair so my nephew uses it currently. Until my 4 month old is big enough to use it. But it’s not very accessible for big kids my son age, the tray is not efficient because you have to left it all the way up to take it off and if there is food on it it just falls. So I’m definitely not happy about though. Overall it could be a better high chair

    Cosco Canteen Highchair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cosco Canteen Highchair is very light and easy to put together. I like the aesthetic, the gray looks nice. The design is minimal and it leaves a small footprint. This highchair has a removable tray and a pad for the back. The removable tray and plastic design make it easy to wipe down. There is a waist buckle that goes around the hips. I do think I’d like to have shoulder straps for newer babies but this is nice as they get older. The chair is pretty short. It fits at our standard kitchen table but it’s too short for the bar. This is the high chair I would get to leave at a grandparents or have ready to go on a week long vacation and you’re driving. It’s light, easy to move around, and not very obtrusive. It didn’t feel as sturdy to me as I would like for a long term full time highchair my baby is getting in and out of 3x per day. Overall, this is a good high chair for what it is accomplishing- good price range, lightweight, not for newborns. I did receive this product as part of the stellar product testing panel program and was able to keep the product.

    Simple Sturdy and Lightweight

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Big thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with the Cosco Canteen High Chair. This high chair is incredibly easy to assemble with no tools required taking about 10 minutes to put together. It truly is such a simple & cute high chair in the best way! Clean up is so easy with having few pieces & JUST the tray with no extras. The straps are just on baby’s lower body and not a full harness which makes getting baby in and out a breeze. The padding is just right for baby’s comfort. It’s also very lightweight so moving it around our table is never an issue. It has a footrest which is just so cute, but also extremely easy to take off and adjust. The seat itself gives us peace of mind seeing that our baby looks fully supported in it. The ONLY con & it really isn’t that big of deal is that sometimes the back part of the cushion will end up getting caught under baby when putting him in, so just wish there was something that kept it held towards the backing of the chair. Again, not the end of the world because other than that - it really is a pretty great high chair & I would definitely recommend it.

Simple and amazing dream high chair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cosco Canteen Highchair exceeded my expectations. I received this highchair from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. First of all, it was very simple to put together. As a busy mom, getting items that need assembly stress me out. But this item surprisingly took less than 10 minutes to assemble and required no extra tools! Once the highchair was assembled, its light weight made it easy to bring to our table. In fact, I can move it easily around the kitchen with one arm which is a huge plus when multitasking. Another excellent thing about the highchair it that it is easy to clean. Food does not get caught in any crevices of the highchair. Babies make messes and not worrying about cleanup is great. Aside from being very functional, the highchair also aesthetically looks great and its modern look matches our home. I highly recommend this highchair!

    Cosco Canteen Highchair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this Cosco Canteen High Chair from the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and honestly it’s been a great everyday high chair for my baby. My overall impression is very positive it’s simple, practical, and does what you actually need without being complicated, I like the look and design because it’s clean and minimal. It doesn’t take over the whole room or look bulky, which I really appreciate. It fits nicely in my kitchen and feels sturdy and well-made. One thing I really liked right away was how easy it was to install. It took very little time to setup, and the instructions were straightforward, which is always a relief especially when you’re juggling a baby. Cleanup after meals is super easy, which is a huge win for me. The tray wipes down quickly, and there aren’t a lot of hard-to-reach spots where food gets stuck. The seat is also easy to wipe clean, so messy meals don’t turn into a big chore. What I like most about this high chair is how comfortable my baby seems in it. She sits securely and looks relaxed during meals, which makes feeding time smoother and more enjoyable for both of us. Overall, it’s a very practical, baby-friendly high chair that’s easy to use and great for everyday feeding.

    Cosco Canteen Highchair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good highchair for portability. It's lightweight and not as bulky as other highchairs, but with that being said it's also too small for a chunkier child. It's hard to get my 10 month in and out of it and she is not very comfortable once seated in it. Her thighs barely fit in the seat. She weighs about 25lbs for reference. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem very sturdy. I feel like I'm going to break it just trying to remove the tray. It is quite a pain to take off the tray, it has to be tilted upright to take off and everything on it gets dumped onto the seat, so if the kiddo made a mess, it becomes an even bigger mess. It would be easier if it lifted straight up and what is on the tray could be dumped into the sink or trash. Overall, for the price and lightweight/portability it is an okay highchair. I liked the look and simplicity of it the most. I appreciate Stellar Product Testing Panel for giving me the opportunity to tryout this highchair. I will be keeping it for my next kiddo due later this year. If he is not as chunky as sister then this will be a great highchair to have at grandma's house.

    The Perfect Simple Highchair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cosco Canteen Highchair is the perfect addition to your home if you are looking for an easy-to-use and easy-to-clean chair for your little one! I have an 8-month-old, and he is loving every puree and solid food he can get his hands on. Which means, for me, having an easy-to-clean high chair is a must. This high chair has a tray that is easy to wipe off after use and has a comfy padded insert that is machine washable (AMAZING!). The tray also has a little cup holder, which is great and can save you a few seconds before the sippy cup gets knocked to the floor, haha! The footrest has two positions to grow with your little one, and you can also take the insert out eventually if needed. There is also a harness that can buckle your wiggly baby in place if needed, and it was super easy to wipe off the straps after meals. One thing to note about this high chair is the very wide footprint. I live in a small apartment, and this honestly was just too big for our space. It is super easy to take apart and pack away, but not practical to do after every use. Also, I think that, in general, the seat of this chair runs a little small. My 8-month-old is only 16 lbs., and this chair fit him perfectly with the insert. I think that he will likely outgrow it in the next 6 months, maybe less. Regardless, I rated this high chair a 3/5 for easy cleanup and simple setup (I didn't even need to use the instructions!). Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for sending me this high chair to test and review!

    Cute and compact

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This came in a small box and I was nervous at first. The instructions were very clear on what to do. It took me maybe 7 minutes from start to finish to put this together. It is shorter than I expected, as my other one I had from years ago for my older child, is taller. It does fit well with our dining room table so that was a plus. My daughter is on the small side for her age and this fit her absolutely perfect. No swallowing her in the seat. She felt comfortable in it and actually enjoys it which I was nervous about. The downfall I see is, that it's super hard to get the little table on and off. It's by a plastic piece, so I'm scared it's going to eventually break off. But usually I just clean it while it's on the unit. If I had to do it often, the clip scares me that it will break and I don't think it would stay put if it did. All in all it is a very nice highchair. Super light weight and not heavy and big like some others. I received this High Chair from the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

    Comfortable and affordable high chair

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I received this high chair from the Stellar Product Testing Panel, I was skeptical because I didn’t think it would be sturdy enough to contain my daughter. I was quickly proven wrong. The set up was easy, it took no more then ten minutes to put it together before we had to eat, and then when she sat in it, it didn’t waver or wobble as she banged her fists on the tray or kicked her feet against the legs. The harness was secure, kept her strapped in tight while she wiggled around, and I felt comfortable leaving her in there as she ate and then, afterwards, played with her toys on it while we finished our food. When it comes to the design, the gray color wouldn’t have been my first choice and I wasn’t too fond of the padding that came with the chair— it was a little too thin and shifted too easily for my liking— but I thought the shape, the curves and the long legs, had a cute, playful feel to it that could easily fit into the theme of most kitchens. It’s lightweight and has a small footprint, which makes it a great fit at any dinner table. I appreciate how easy it was to clean; it took almost no effort to get into the nooks and crannies to swipe up any hidden food. I also like that you can stow the tray away behind it when you’re done. Overall, my daughter seemed comfortable in it, it was easy to clean and it fit perfectly at the dining table so we were able to interact with her while we ate our food. If I needed a high chair that was affordable, cute, easy to clean and easy to move around from place to place, I would 100% choose this one with no hesitation.

    Mom and Baby love it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this High Chair from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I knew this high chair was lightweight because the box was not heavy. This is important for me because it is easily portable. It did not take long to assemble this high chair, no tools were needed. Immediately I noticed how soft and comfortable the seat padding was. My daughter is 8 months old but she pretty much demands a nice cushion, so this works great. I appreciate gender neutral colors, so, the gray option works well for me. I really liked that the footrest has two position options. I truly feel like my baby girl is secure in the 3 point safety harness. This high chair is easy to clean and my baby is one messy eater. My favorite thing about this high chair is that my clingy baby really enjoys sitting in it. The first time she used the chair was not for eating. I just wanted to see if she would even like it and she smiled, laughed and tapped the tray for a good amount of time. So, my overall impression is that my baby approves of this high chair and as her mother, I am thrilled. This is much better than feeding her on my lap!
