As a working chef, the knife size is excellent, but a serrated Santoku?? Hilarious.....fortunately, I also sharpen knives, so will be grinding the serrated blade down, and resharpening as a REGULAR Santoku.......C'mon Chrissy........use your head.

I Love this knife. It replaces several I have used on a daily basis. Important to me is the serration on the blade. My serrated knife is 40 years old and shows the wear.

I saw this online and thought I *needed* it. Turns out -- I really did. It has replaced about four knives I normally use for different jobs, freeing up a bunch of space in my drawers. The grip feels good, the weight is perfect and it's super sharp. The only downside is that it does not come with a protector, but after a quick google/youtube search, I made one using a cardboard file folder and it works perfect.

So I first off must confess my initial ignorance of the "serrated" santoku knife; has this always been a thing? Regardless, I will start with the "negatives" (I say it with quotes simply because there isn't anything that is really wrong about this implement): first off, the concept of a knife that is meant to have multiple preparatory properties having a rather sharp, deeply serrated edge is somewhat off-putting and I admit to regularly feeling like I am about to saw through my cutting board. Incidentally, the serration seems to give this knife a somewhat angled descent through vegetables that makes the slices come out somewhat slanted; you can of course correct your stroke (and the intention of this knife may well be to allow one to make decent cuts while going more slowly) but I have to say being decently experienced with kitchen knife practices, this one required a learning curve. Also, the cleaning of this knife is paramount, as it must be done quickly; I noticed that it had a tendency to develop spots if not thoroughly washed in warm water and soap and basically immediately dried. Now of course we all know that we must take care of our prep-ware with an exacting hand, but this just seemed like something I should say in this instance for future buyers. Now the positives are easy and copious: it's beautiful, it's light, it's very sharp and capable of performing tasks I wouldn't normally associate with santokus (slicing bread, for instance... for a long time I have not wished to have a bread knife simply because they tend to be so long, but this one really fulfills all those needs and is agreeably shorter). It is a good knife and for what it is and can do is basically a steal. Because of the reasons referenced above, I wouldn't call it a perfect (rather, 5-star) knife, but it certainly was a purchase I have found I enjoy.

This is the knife I’ve been looking for all my life. A quality chef’s knife with a serrated blade is hard to find. This one is well made and well balanced with a well shaped handle that’s easy to grip. I can chop, dice, and slice everything with ease - apples, tomatoes, kohlrabi, carrots, etc. At only $15, it’s an amazing bargain. Thanks, Chrissy Teigen!
