Q: Is this crock pot lead free? Also, can the warm setting be selected by itself?
A: Hello! We regularly employ rigorous third-party testing to ensure that our slow cookers meet or exceed all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, including those related to lead content. Consumers should feel confident that our products are safe to use. The glaze of our ceramic pots is a silicate made of quartz, feldspar, and clay. The glaze is covered over the pot, fired at high temperature to melt the glaze, and then cooled down. The glaze liquid is then turned into coating the same as glass film on the surface of the pot. This does not contain PTFE & PFOA. When it comes to the Warm setting, it is an automatic one. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am -5pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Q: can you set times and not use preprogrammed settings?
A: Hi! Thank you for taking your time to ask this question about our CrockPot! This particular unit is OneTouch, meaning you can use only the preprogrammed settings. For recipes that require a range of times, select the time closest to the setting on your slow cooker. For example, to cook a recipe calling for a cooking time of 7 to 9 hours on LOW, cook for 8 hours. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am -5pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Q: Can locking the lid during cooking cause the unit to become excessively hot? My counter top and the unit are very hot to the touch. I’m trying to figure out if it was cause by the lid being locked, or if there is an issue with the unit itself.
A: Hey there! Thank you for your inquiry. The lid should not be locked while you are cooking. The locking lid is only for traveling with the slow cooker. The heating base is subject to residual heat from cooking cycle. Due to the proximity between the heating element and the exterior of our slow cookers, it is normal for them to get quite hot on the outside. If you need further assistance, please reach out to us at 1-800-323-9519 or email us at crockpotconsumercare@newellco.com. We are open from Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm EST. Our product specialists will be more than happy to help you.

Q: Does the lid need to be locked during cooking?
A: Hello there, LB! We hope you are healthy and staying safe. If you have a locking lid feature on your glass lid it’s extremely important to never lock the lid during the cooking process. Locking the lid during cooking, will keep the steam in producing pressure which could affect the slow cooker’s performance.

Q: Is the stoneware insert stovetop safe, for browning/sauteeing?
A: Hi, Nicole! Thank you for asking. The stoneware of this slow-cooker model is not stovetop safe. If you prefer to pre-brown meat, brown or sear meats in a skillet, prior to adding to slow cooker.
