I don't understand why this product is *so* expensive. It does seem to protect against moisture (though thankfully, that aspect hasn't been tested yet), but it does nothing to promote cooling. I thought there would be an obvious layer of gel or some other material (similar to a cooling pillow we recently bought) to promote the cooling aspect, but there isn't. It does fit our very thick mattress, but that's damning with faint praise, like saying an employee always showed up on time when writing a letter of recommendation for them. Perhaps the lesson here is not to buy this type of product online without first inspecting it IRL.
