Q: How long will the coffee remain hot ?

submitted by Me - 4 years ago
  • A: I would say hot for 3-4 hours. I've had a cup 6 hours later and it was still warm.

submitted byKaren - 4 years ago
  • A: I literally timed it because there were so many comments here. I timed it for over a day. When I first brewed the coffee the temp was 182 degrees. 27 hours later it was still steaming when I removed the lid and my digital temp read 132 degrees. I’d say the coffee stays HOT!!

submitted byMarcus - 4 years ago
  • A: Hot for an hour or two, warm for longer

submitted byAllen - 4 years ago
  • A: I think the important part about keeping the coffee hot, is that one needs to keep the lid on. You can brew it, and pour it, with the lid sealed (Hey... it's magic!!!). If the lid is removed, it will allow the coffee to cool much quicker.

submitted byWally - 4 years ago
  • A: Never really gets hot due to its poor design. Keeps the coffee slightly above room temperature for maybe an hour.

    submitted byboiu90 - 2 years ago

Q: is this the DCC 3400?

submitted by DESMADRE - 4 years ago
  • A: Not so it turns off and the remaining coffee is cold so whether your making 4 or 12 cups less than a hour the coffee is cold.

submitted byBea Jersey - 4 years ago
  • A: No, this is an exclusive Target version. Only found at Target and it has amazing performance.

    submitted byGinaB2323 - 4 years ago
  • A: It's model DCC-3850TG.

    submitted by2Cents - 4 years ago
  • A: Per Cuisanart, the replacement decanter is the same as the Cuisanart DCC 3400. Question for Cuisanart rep: What are the specific differences, if any, between this Target model and the DCC 3400?

submitted byLikesDijonMustard - 3 days ago

Q: Is the carafe easy and comfortable to handle? Does it drip?

submitted by Mykaz - 4 years ago
  • A: It is nearly impossible to handle, never empties out completely, and has a big lip on the interior that prevents fluids from flowing out without spilling all over everything (and that is with the lid on properly to allow for pouring).

    submitted byboiu90 - 2 years ago
  • A: I would say no, it is not at all easy and comfortable to handle. It is much heavier than a glass carafe. And, because the coffee doesn't pour out easily, you will have to turn your wrist much further to get coffee that builds up in the rim to pour out.

submitted byRorie - 3 years ago
  • A: It is easy and comfortable to handle. It does not drip unless you to do not have the top on the carafe.

Q: does the resting plate for the stainless steel thermal pot rust?

submitted by Terri - 2 years ago

Q: I just purchased the Cuisinart DCC-3850 coffeemaker (from Target) I've noticed that when it finishes brewing it turns off is there a way to keep it on? I brew 12 cups and after less then an a hour the coffee turns off.

submitted by Bea Jersey - 4 years ago
  • A: the thermal coffee pot will keep your coffee warm and does not need to be connected to warming plate.

submitted byConair's Answers Team - 3 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: The point of having a thermal coffee carafe is so the coffee stays hot without being on a warming plate. So, of course it turns "off" after brewing. The carafe also keeps the coffee from burning.

submitted byRorie - 3 years ago

Q: Does this have a auto shut off?

submitted by terja - 4 years ago
  • A: For all intents and purposes, the coffee maker "turns off" when it is done brewing. In turn, there is nothing to "think about or forget to do" when the coffee is ready.

submitted byWally - 4 years ago
  • A: Once the coffee finishes brewing, there is no heating element that needs an auto shut off. The easy-pour double-wall insulated thermal carafe has an ergonomic handle and is designed to keep your coffee hot for hours.

Very few of these stainless steel coffee makers available at a reasonable price and went with Cuisinart based on prior experience and reputation. Extremely simple to use, nice design and works great but the one slight negative, as pointed out in other reviews, is the carafe design and awkwardness to use. Can’t see how much coffee is left plus difficult to accurately measure the amount of water to pour for a specific amount of cups. You can get around that by using a separate measuring cup to fill or just guessing and keep adding while watching the fill gauge on side of machine. Overall, very good machine, great price and you eventually get used to the carafe, at least if you want stainless steel. Very satisfied with purchase.

Good coffee but hard to empty the carafe.

The positives are that the maker does make good coffee, and keeps the coffee hot. The negatives are that the design of the carafe is such that the last cup to a cup and a half, are difficult to get out of the carafe. You have to almost turn the carafe upside down to empty the carafe. Turning the carafe upside down makes it difficult to pour into a cup. Sorry, but I would not recommend this coffee maker to a friend because of the issue of being difficult to empty the carafe. Pouring the water into the maker, necessitates using a separate pitcher or container.

It's all about the carrafe. It does seem to do a very good job (IMO) of keeping the coffee warm for a considerable length of time (I didn't time it but certainly hours which should be plenty). But.....the design of the upper portion of the carrafe is such that the last coup or two you are practically holding it upaide down to get the coffee out and still can't get it all out. Not sure if many/all carrafe's are ike this or not.

This might be the worst coffee maker I’ve ever purchased, and we’ve had several. The design of the coffee pot is so poor, you can’t get out the bottom third of the liquid without tipping the whole thing upside down and making a mess. This goes for pouring coffee and trying to fill the water carafe. Kudos to target for letting me return it used. Would not recommend buying

Replaced my Hamilton Beach coffee station with this Cuisinart 12 cup coffee maker since it leaked water constantly. I have granite counter tops and didn't want a glass carafe. This has the thermal metal one and is great. Was very easy to set up and the coffee stays hot for at least 3 hours. Highly recommend this one!

Horrible coffee pot. Everything about the design is wrong. The pot is impossible to fill. You can’t tell how much is in the pot and water goes everywhere when you try and I’ll it. Filling a coffee mug with the pot also leaks everywhere. The coffee pot is completely rusted on the bottom after just a few months and is staining my countertops and it has stopped working after 6 months. It also takes forever to brew (over 20 min). We have always owned cuisinart coffee pots but this is by far the worst.

Purchased solely for the carafe. Our last Cuisinart went out after 15 years of almost daily use. Loved it. After reading the description of this one I thought a pot that doesn't sit on a burner might taste even better. Following the directions I prewarm the carafe and let it permeate while I fill the coffee maker. Despite this, even the very first cup is nowhere near warm enough And I usually have to add ice to hot drinks to cool them down. The carafe itself is so poorly designed it is near impossible to clean. Three stars for quality because I know the brand is good. Just not this model.

Craig B - 1 month ago
This is after cleaning and setup of this new coffee maker, then drinking from it throughout the day. Setup was a bit confusing, requiring reading the short-form and long instructions just to understand what everything means. But, with that done, it works well to brew a pot except for one thing -- the pot itself is weirdly curved in on itself at the top and pouring involves the liquid leaking out from the middle of the top and over the "guide" where it pours out from. That's not such a big deal when pouring coffee, once you get used to opening and closing the top (which is also strange), but it makes it very hard to use the pot itself to fill the coffee maker. You have to tip it completely upside down to get all the water out, as I guess you would if you used all the coffee in the pot. So, you really need a separate pitcher to fill the coffee maker, especially since you can't see how full it is, like how many cups. I'm sure the carafe design is the way it is to keep the coffee hot as long as absolutely possible. And the strange/awkward twist top is for the same reason. So, once you get past these strange things and brew the coffee, you realize it is very good, almost excellent. And the fact that the entire pot of coffee stays steaming hot for hours (about 4 hours in my testing) means I'm more than happy to deal with the weirdness. It's nice because you can put the pot anywhere, like in the middle of the area where the people using it are working, so I can see this working well for a cube area or a meeting room. That also means you could get an extra carafe to keep the coffee flowing, as some offices are constantly making coffee. And, of course, a hot plate isn't constantly concentrating it and making it awful on the last cup. It also opens the possibility of brewing multiple pots with one machine for multiple areas. Bottom line, the design is thoughtful, it has a lot of features, it brews very good coffee, and the carafe works as well as my Yeti travel mug (almost) at keeping the coffee the right hot temperature for a very long time. And, this price for all of that really does make it a great value.

Purchased because internet reviews indicated a hot brewing temperature. At first this was the case using the 'bold' button. Coffee was hot and great and stayed hot in the caraf a long time. Then no. Coffee cools down faster, doesn't taste as good. Measured temp in the caraf with or without 'bold' button - 177 degrees, actually the same as my old bunn machine, reason for which I got rid of. Then there is the splashy pouring caraf........

Awkward to use and wasteful

The programming features are good. There is no heating element, which is my fault for not checking. It is very awkward to use a carafe where you can't see how much water you're putting in. You have to "guess," then see how much is in the fill window. You always end up having to go back for more, or dumping some out. Again, turning the machine around so you can see the window and pouring the water in without spilling out is quite awkward. And you can NEVER empty the last of the coffee from the carafe without spilling. I'll never purchase a machine without a heating element/glass carafe again.

the steel carafe does keep coffee hot, but adding water to the coffee maker is difficult because the opening to the tank is very small and right next to the flip top. The filter basket is difficult to install properly due to having to align slots and keys. at least the metal pot won't break if you hit it on a sink.
