Q: what ingredients do I need to buy to make ice cream with it(other than chocolate of course)? another one I purchased had little packets in it and I see this one does not

submitted by Aspensumm - 3 years ago
  • A: Because my husband is allergic to milk, I make him some chocolate ice cream using chocolate almond milk and to make it creamier sometimes I cook and cool a custard of the almond milk with eggs.

submitted byBobbie - 2 years ago
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. Our My Pint Ice Cream Maker comes with a recipe guide included in the manual to help you get started making your own ice cream! To make your own ice cream, you only need a few simple ingredients that you may have around your home already. Such as: heavy cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, for a classic vanilla ice cream.

This does nothing. Its not an ice cream maker. It’s a waste of money to be 100% honest. Too bad.

It works okay, but the recipes in it are for 3 cups of ice cream and it can only make 1, and even at that it isn’t as frozen as I would like. It does okay though.

I returned it. They didn’t have a non dairy recipe. It’s not a new item, they have had time to create one! I don’t know how to substitute for the dairy recipe they include? Do I use coconut cream? Coconut milk? Almond milk? I found non dairy I cream cream recipes online, but they are for much larger machines!!! Very disappointed in Dash. I love my 2 mini waffle makers, and love those. I was hoping to love this product

This is great. I don’t understand how it has negative reviews. Pop the thing in the freezer for two days, make the vanilla base (you only can make 1 cup at a time but the recipe in the book has about 3 and a half cups) add your own stuff (personally, I make a little slurry of instant coffee and cocoa powder so it’s easier to whisk in) take a cup of that, put it in the freezer for an hour, then churn for 30 minutes. You will however be forced to make ice cream 4 days in a row because you have to re freeze the cold part of the machine

Doesn't Work

Toddler Mom - 1 year ago, Verified purchaser
Really disappointed! I literally NEVER write reviews but wanted to let others know not to waste their money! Had high hopes for this since it was a gift for my ice-cream obsessed 5 year old. We tried it once, didn't work. Tried it again and "chilled" the ice cream mixture in the freezer BEFORE using the machine. It still came out sloshy and soupy and didn't resemble ice cream. Would definitely return it if we could.

Followed instructions, left cup in freezer for 24 hrs (temp under -2), attempted to make frozen yogurt using dairy-free yogurt, but it never got to the consistency of frozen yogurt. We could not find any instructions on how long to leave the unit running, so assumed until you leave it run until you get the consistency you desire, but some gets frozen to the sides and is difficult to scrape off. Overall, for the price, it is ok.

I feel like there’s absolutely no point to this. I was so excited to buy it but you have to keep the container in the freezer for 24 hours . Okay great. Then you need to make your ice cream product and place it in the freezer for about an hour or until it’s soft but more solid form. Take it out and place inside the mixer and turn it on…. You can literally do this with a spoon or fork and get the same exact result. And if your ice cream mixture is a little more on the solid side well the ice cream maker is cheap and won’t even be able to mix it so then your sitting around waiting for your mixture to melt a bit …. Stupid! Just mix if yourself save time and money.

I just put a single, almond milk yogurt into this and run it till it’s frozen yogurt for a treat every now and then. It’s fine and convenient for that use and I like it. It freezes pretty hard to the walls, so it slows down my consumption rate. If you really want to make ice cream from scratch, I really would not recommend this. It has a cheap, plastic paddle, you have to prefreeze your mix and nothing is dishwasher safe. You won’t be happy. But if you just want to throw a yogurt in there and have ONE serving per day for yourself, a partner or ONE kid, it’s convenient and works fine.

It works pretty well. Followed the basic ice cream recipe and chilled ingredients 45 min before putting it in the ice cream maker. Then churned until loose soft serve consistency and put in freezer for about an hour. Then there was real ice cream!

I bought one, just to give it a try, and then I bought a second one so each of my grandkids could make their own flavor, and the flavors they come up with are really something Tonight, one made strawberry, chocolate, mango, and the other one requested chocolate, almond butter, vanilla. They were both actually delicious. I am amazed at how well these little things make ice cream. I do have a separate freezer, so I can freeze the containers super cold before making. My grandkids absolutely love these little ice cream makers. They work perfectly for our needs.

Mini Ice cream maker

I think this is a fabulous idea. I have an ice cream maker but now I live alone. So, of course when I purchase ice cream from the store I am pinching pennies. I end up purchasing half a gallon that I will eventually eat alone. This will satisfy my craving at a smaller volume. And its sooo cute!
