Q: Does this function just as an air purifier and not as a cooler or heater? In other words can this be used in the winter without using cool or warm air?

  • A: Hi Judy. I have this machine, and yes, one has to use either the cool or heat modes. However, you can set the temperature to what you like, as well as how intense you’d like the fan to blow, so I sometimes just set it to my current room temperature. I hope that helps?-Michele

  • A: Hello Judy, this is Kelly with Dyson. The HP01 machine would need to be turned on, in order for the air to get purified. Regardless of in heat or cool mode, air will be getting drawn through the bottom of the machine where it's purified as it passes through the filter.   • A: The machine does need replacement filters, and the machine will flash an “F” when it’s time. As of this writing, the replacement filters cost $70, and I can’t currently find one other than the Dyson site, which also requires $9 for shipping. It’s important to know that.

Q: I have tried to use typical space heaters and have had issues of circuit breaker tripping. The breaker is a 20 amp, arc fault. I do not know if previous heaters tripped on over-current or arc fault.

Therefore, all Dyson products produced in 2019 and later do not require the prop 65 label. To provide you with additional confidence in our products, in 2018 Dyson developed a new comprehensive Prop65 assessment program in collaboration with 3rd Party laboratories. In a room of 139ft², the tower purifier fan will purify the room in 27 minutes. In a smaller room, it will take less time to purify the air; in a bigger room, it will take longer to purify the air. I added this to our baby registry because I love my current Dyson and was so so disappointed to find out this does no it work with the app and now we can’t return it exchange it. I delayed to set it up since the baby was still in our room in the bassinet but now that he’s in his crib in his room, I can’t control it from the other room like my trusty older Dyson. We can’t afford the new one that does connect to the app. I never would of thought to check if the purifier did or did not connect to the app.

Filter impossible to change

I have had this unit for 1 year. I can't get the top of the unit to come off to replace the filter. My other model separates at the bottom and is like doors. I suspect it will end up in the trash and I live alone and changing the filter is a 2 person job.

I love this dyson hot+cool because its an air purifier and a heater and also a fan, such a great combo for the price is actually not bad only thing why I lessen to 1 star is because I cant check how much its purifying the air in my room. I have a mid size room about 150 sq ft room and it manages to cool it or make it warmer, the noise level is not that bad kind of loud but tolerable. Great purchase overall just need to figure out if i can check how much its purifying the air

I own two for a few years now, one for main room one for bedroom. Easy to operate. You chose specific temperature, heat to cool, oscillates, 70% swinging movement or stationary, I can not do without this air purifier, heating and cooling my home. Has become a dear companion, accommodating and pleasant disposition. 😂😂 I really enjoy and love this machine I use it daily, nightly. Soon to purchase my third. Great design.

I bought my DYSON PURE HOT+COOL years ago and it still performs amazingly. It does a great job heating and cooling my bedroom. Of course it also seems to clean the air. Yes it can be a bit loud but I like the extra white noise.

I bought this machine approximately 1 month ago. I was very happy with the heating function. It literally warmed my entire living room and we were using the home heating less. About 3 weeks into owning this unit I noticed it was stating to get a little noisy. We cleaned it and it seemed fine. Now, today 2/15/2023, the unit started to get a little more noisy while oscillating. We turned it off as recommended. Now, it will not oscillate at all and fan speeds are not functioning either. Again, I was very happy with this unit for the first 3 weeks. I’m hoping it will cool off enough and work again but I’m not overly confident that it will. I would think for the money this unit cost, it should work without so many issues and such a short period of time.

The Dyson Hot and Cool has been alright for the few months ive had it. The fan works fine, it blows cold air when its supposed too. My problem is with the heater part of it. It never seems to stay on long enough to actually raise the temperature of my room, as for some reason it shuts off after like 20 minutes of use. Also, the filters for this thing is way too expensive. Overally, I think that this product is alright, but there are other better options if you are willing to spend this kind of money on a heater/cooler.

The machine will be in heat mode, if you have the temperature set higher than the existing room temperature. For example, if the machine is set to 70, and your room is already 69 degrees, it may not take long for the room temperature to hit 70. At that time, the machine will stay on, but won't blow heated air until the temperature falls again. We'd be more than happy to help troubleshoot your machine, and make sure it's working as intended. What a piece of trash. Took it to the Dyson service center and they gave me a new one (they were great). One yr later, same error. Display reads H2 which has a bunch of ppl hacking it but what it really means is Horrible squared. Save your money.

The error code you are seeing is generally due to an over or under current from the outlet. It's very common to see, if the unit is plugged into an outlet with other high powered appliances, since the HP01 does draw so much power, especially in heat mode. You can normally resolve this by ensuring your unit is plugged directly in to a wall outlet, on its own - with no other electrical devices. Hands-down this should be on Oprah’s list of favorite things. I purchased in 2018 and have had no service or technology issues. I most often use the heat setting and love that I can adjust the temp. I appreciate so many other features as well such as the timer, ability to adjust the airflow, ability to control temperature settings from the app, and most of all the air filtration. Allergy sufferers in my home have had a decrease in their symptoms. I am purchasing a second one for another room. It will be my 9th Dyson purchase and I have been highly satisfied with all of Dyson’s products thus far.

These are great when new but we have had two in a row malfunction shortly after the warranty period has expired. We did change the filters and maintenance regularly. For the price they should last much longer or at least have a longer warranty.

A great fan, an unreliable heater

I’ve had the Hot+Cool HP01 for about 2 years now and from week one it had intermittent issues where it would display error code H2, stop heating and wind up the fan as if it were cooling an overheated part. This occurred in two separate small rooms where it was intended to augment the central heating to maintain a modest 68-70 degree temperature. This failure state is problematic because the machine does not return to functioning after it has “cooled down” and will not work again until it is unplugged, so it cannot be relied upon. I’ve been told this is not an issue with the machine and is due to current fluctuations. If this is the case it is an extreamly poor design because no other appliances seem to be impacted by the fluctuation and it renders the heating function useless as a reliable heat source. While the fan design is nice, and the air filter is appreciated, I would recommend saving your money on the heating option and simply pair the fan with a reliable radiator style heater. I would like to rate the fan and air purifier higher than a 1 star, but I think people are to complacent about giving mediocre reviews to products that do not fulfill the function advertised especially from a company that demands a premium for allegedly superior products . Had I known what I know now, I would have made a different purchasing decision.

We're sorry to see that you've had some issues with an "H2" code showing on the display. Normally, that can occur to to an over or undercurrent at the outlet. These units do draw a lot of power, and if you have them plugged into an outlet with other high-powered appliances, that can happen. You can try a full reset: unplug the machine, leave it unplugged for 30 seconds, and plug it back in, to its own outlet, and that should clear the code. I wouldn't buy this product just because after the 2 year warranty it stops working the filter are extremely expensive and every 2 years they come out with new products and the dyson customers service sucks
